Covid lateral flow test my 3yr old without consent

I've just been informed by my 3yr old that my preschool/nursery provider have been lateral flow testing her. This was done without my consent, and without symptoms. Why do I feel so violated? What happened to individuals rights and bodily autonomy?
Can they do this without my consent?

I think you need to phone and calmly ask what the situation is. If it transpires they have been LFT testing your child without consent then yes I would absolutely take it further. You need to give consent.

@Whatwouldscullydo
Absolutely regarding time it takes to test. I'm secondary school teacher and government dumps that shit on us with no time of staff. Imagine LTF over 1000 (that's the ones who HAVE given consent) pupils twice. On school time. With no extra staff or space to do it. It's great fun the LT the go off abs sit next to ones that haven't given consent in a classroom that have no co2 monitors. Windows barely open. It's ok though cos the piece of cloth that is dirty and they keep touching covering their face will protect them. I digress....

@ConfusedinCotswolds ring don't email. It's much easier.

Just call them and ask 🙄Cannot imagine they did for one minute.

@Goldbar

I can't imagine nursery have done this. They wouldn't have the time. It takes ages just to get the kids to wash their hands.
Yes THIS! I have worked in a nursery. Just getting them to wash and dry their hands after going to the toilet can take long enough.

You have a child in nursery and you don’t know how to raise an issue with them?

What is the “legal system” you are referring to here? You think you’d need a lawyer to raise a complaint over something that is highly unlikely to have happened? And even if you did, you think somehow the “legal system” would override long established case law just because they feel like it?

And, presumably even if they were allowed to do it, you’d just remove your child from nursery.

Justheretoaskaquestion91 · 04/12/2021 17:29

Your 3yo was able to tell you they'd had a LFT?

What? Why wouldn’t a 3 year old be able to tell someone this?

lanthanum · 04/12/2021 18:02

When they started the LFTs in secondary, the first two/three were done in school, but we had to give consent. A glitch meant some of the electronic consent forms didn't register; DD (then 14) was not allowed to do a test until they had rung me to confirm consent - they wouldn't take her word for it.

So I don't see how it can possibly be okay to be testing young children without parental knowledge/consent.

@loujikadhtusnsk

I'm would be very shocked if this actually happened.
I'd be more than shocked.
