Would you go to a kids party next week?

It’s my Ds 5th birthday party next week. I’ve hired out the whole soft play area and only having close family and friends there. Approx 45 people. Would you still go? I’m not sure what to do as the balance is due this week. . .

Yes, I would.

underneaththeash · 02/12/2021 17:51

Yes, unless I was going on holiday soon afterwards.

RobinPenguins · 02/12/2021 17:53

I would, especially if it was people who spend time together in another setting anyway. And unless it’s really small, 45 people in a whole soft play hall doesn’t imply you’re crammed in together.

Abak123 · 02/12/2021 17:56

The venue allows a max of 100 people. So that should be alright? Shouldn’t it.

No,last week grandchild went to a party about 30 children.Birthday child has Covid followed by most of the others. Most of the class are at home for 10 days. They are 9 year olds.Isit worth it?.Very sad to have to decline but maybe be sensible.

Notglam · 02/12/2021 17:57

Yes, I would. I hope your son has a great day

morechocolateneededtoday · 02/12/2021 17:58

Yes I would and we will be attending one next weekend

TheYearOfSmallThings · 02/12/2021 17:59

I would (in fact I did hold a soft play party for DS last weekend).

KirkstallAbbess · 02/12/2021 18:03

Yes, of course.

Livefortherain · 02/12/2021 18:03

Yes I would.

We went to one two weeks ago. It was a bouncy castle in a hall with children aged 1-9.

2 hours after we got home, my daughter was complaining of feeling shivery with bit of a temp. She tested positive. She is 8. No symptoms before the party.

I don't know how but nobody else at the party caught it! Even though she was on the bouncy castle and being climbed over by little ones. I told the host as soon as she tested positive and she told the guests. I felt so guilty but we had no idea she had it.

Myself, DS and DH did end up getting it a few days later though!

WheelieBinPrincess · 02/12/2021 18:04

Yeah, kids have missed out on enough, surely they are all mixing at school anyway.

Rolypolybabies · 02/12/2021 18:05

If they are all at school I really can't see the issue. You could cancel the party and have the whole lot off with covid anyway.

HeyManIJustWantSomeMuesli · 02/12/2021 18:10

Because of covid? Yes, it wouldn't even cross my mind not to.

Looubylou · 02/12/2021 18:17

Yes, and I took my 10 year old to the theatre last night too - packed like sardines in Upper circle. My child needs some normal experiences - I know that sounds selfish, but the negative effects of isolating and social distancing rules, have been been too much. We followed the rules, and are still following rules, but I'm no longer willing to do more than that.

WarmWinterSun · 02/12/2021 18:20

If the kids are all mixing at school then a party shouldn’t add much additional risk. I would go.

Whitewolf2 · 02/12/2021 18:27

Yes we’re going to a 6 year olds party this weekend. They’re all at school together anyway.

millymolls · 02/12/2021 18:28

Yes
Would t think twice

simpledeer · 02/12/2021 18:32

No, because if I get Covid this would cause a huge drama for my family (complex and temporary situation I won't bore you with.)

I hope enough people are able to come to your DS party to make it worthwhile and he has fun OP.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 02/12/2021 18:33

Yes

Life goes on

How do they know they caught it there and not at school, it sounds like they're all in the same class?
gogohm · 02/12/2021 18:35

Might be worth checking with a few guests

SirSamuelVimes · 02/12/2021 18:36

Yes, absolutely

DontTellThemYourNamePike · 02/12/2021 18:36

I am currently waiting for my child to come out of a party room at the local Inflatapark. So yes. But it wasn't an easy decision for us. DS is 9 and we decided to let him have fun with his friends. Nearly everyone here is in his class, so if someone catches it here, they will likely bring it in to school. So he might as well be here.

BluebellsGreenbells · 02/12/2021 18:37

testing before the party is surely good manners? Is that common sense?

Why not ask your guests to do that?

Skybooks · 02/12/2021 18:37

I'm holding DS's 6th birthday party next weekend and am really grateful for this thread.

The mums I have spoken to in the playground are still planning on coming.

I hope your son has a fab party!
