AIBU to think some people are so inconsiderate

Today I was shopping in a local supermarket and there was woman walking around every aisle and coughing non stop, she was not wearing a mask, nor did she have a lanyard, but what irked me even more was that she didn’t make much of an effort to even cover her mouth whilst coughing.

Then when we were queuing to pay, she turned up behind me( I was scooting as fast I could around the shop to avoid her) and started to chat to the lone unmasked cashier across from our cashier saying”I see your smile, well done for not bowing down to the government like sheep, when we all have natural immunity”!! All said whilst coughing some more 😩 fully aware that there are tons of us around all masked up!

Then proceeding to chat to all and sundry around her. The worst part was she seemed so well spoken and articulate which seemed to clash entirely with her inconsiderate behaviour.

Aibu to feel like this woman was out of order?!

I have cough variant asthma, I've never been so self conscious of it as I have been in the pandemic. If my asthma is really bad I struggle with a mask although I am lucky enough I can usually avoid going out at those times. So I guess there is a small possibility it was that?

She should cover her mouth when coughing though, that's just good manners

It’s astounding how many people don’t do this!!! 🤢

She absolutely should. She should be wearing a mask. I have moderately bad asthma too, but I don't use it as an excuse to cough over everyone.

I don't mind people who don't wear masks as I get that they might be exempt (although my husband managed to wear one when in severe heart failure with 25% lung capacity and I do suspect there are a lot of people for whom "exempt" means the same as "I don't like wearing one") but what I can't bear are the people who spout off about not wearing one to all and sundry. It's bizarre that they seem to think the whole world needs to know how thick and/or selfish they are.
