AIBU about calling 111

My daughter is 4 and has had a sustained temp (with calpol) of between 38.8 and 39.9 since this morning. She also has a stiff neck and back and very tired but no other symptoms. Everything is telling me to call 111 as calpol isn't touching it but not sure if I'm over reacting? If you've called 111 recently anyone know what the wait times look like? Thanks

OP I've had vomiting from antibiotics before and my doctor just prescribed me another straight away, so in case you're worrying about that, I'd imagine they'll just give her another. Id keep a note of the one she struggled with so you can say no to that in the future

Thank you have contacted the doctor this morning, now awaiting their reply. Will never let her have this one again. She's also been a bit delirious on it and told me she felt hyper and couldn't stop talking.

That is the infection causing her delirium. Once you have different antibiotic, it will help.

Thank you 😊

NF is fab for UTIs but really does need to be taken with lots of food or else it can make you feel sick/be sick. I learnt that one the hard way!

We followed the instructions to the letter and only gave it with meals but it really doesn't agree with her. She is a very small 4 year old I just think it was too much for her little tummy. I hope they give us an alternative or recheck to see if the UTI is even still present as she seems fine now and no temp.

Make sure you give her plenty of fluids to flush the infection out.

Thank you luckily she drinks loads. I keep thinking maybe I should have just let her body fight it and maybe she would have been fine and I wouldn't have put her through this. but with such a high temp this didn't feel like an option at the time.

Definitely right to have medication - UTIs can spread very quickly to the kidneys or even result in sepsis. Hope they manage to sort something for her.

Thanks they've prescribed something different that is very common for children and very well tolerated. They also want a new wee sample to send off to be checked.

That's good to hear.
