Just saw this posted on FB.

Surely it's cheaper and more practical to buy a decent loaf of bread, beans, and cheese to assemble yourself??

I understand the appeal of convenience, but beans-on-toast is already the embodiment of ease: toast (or grill if posh Wink ) bread, bung beans in microwave, grate on generous helping of cheese, job done!

Am I just too common to understand the appeal of posh cheesy beans of toast? Would any of you buy this?? Help me out here! Grin Grin

To wonder who would actually buy this?

It's not comparable to beans on toast as a meal in itself because it's party food for a buffet. But it's not something I'd buy as I don't think they look very nice and the price is too much for what it is, M and S or not.

teezletangler · 25/11/2021 07:39

Do you really not understand this OP?! Presumably you actually do and this is...what.... just a rather laborious way to sneer at people who buy ready made party food and pay M and S prices for

I think it's more the fact that beans on toast has not ever in a month of Sundays been considered party food. Let alone mini, pre-prepared beans on toast! Totally bizarre.

Queenoftheashes · 25/11/2021 07:43

How disgusting. If anything has to be freshly assembled and served immediately it’s beans on toast.

OhGiveUp · 25/11/2021 07:45

@Mybalconyiscracking Can I come to your party please? The food you're offering is far better than any pre packed party stuff.
I'll contribute a box of Ritz crackers and a pack of Wensleydale.

DrWankincense · 25/11/2021 07:49

Well me too, OP.
As for the accusations of sneering etc...Newsflash, folk can have different opinions isn't that the point?
I buy some party food but £5 odds for that is an absolute travesty, never mind the amount of packaging.
@Mybalconyiscracking, that sounds like my kind of party!!

Cash rich = private caterers not rubbish from M&S or Waitrose.

Not necessarily. Depends on how much cash.

OhWhyNot · 26/11/2021 08:00

It’s M&S it’s bound to be delicious

I still think of M&S food as a treat it always was when I was growing up

Not sure I would buy those but if I had the money I would certainly be buying a lot more food M&S for Christmas
