@BeastOfBODMAS you’re doing a bloody wonderful job, well done for persevering when you’ve been messed about so much. Your baby sounds like she’s doing perfectly with your milk, your way. Hopefully no more intervention needed after next weigh in and you can hunker down at home and enjoy your baby.

Good luck with your recovery, I had an emcs with number 4 and it was hell to recover from! Especially whilst constantly feeding! Take it easy. Oats are good for milk so don’t feel guilty for eating flapjack whenever you fancy hah!

You're doing a great job op.

ItsAllAboutTheLighting · 22/11/2021 19:56

Can I ask why you have ordered a Hakka?

Wilkolampshade · 22/11/2021 20:15

@BeastOfBODMAS you're functioning just fine OP. It's those other bastards that aren't.
Keep going. X

BeastOfBODMAS · 22/11/2021 20:21

@ItsAllAboutTheLighting if topups need to be given I’d rather give expressed milk than formula. Not a judgment on formula, just want my supply to be keeping up with her needs.
They seem pretty well reviewed on here for a manual pump. Not intending to spend hundreds on kit when BF is the long term plan.

@BeastOfBODMAS I think she and you have cracked it tbh. Some, particularly cs babies, born a little early and on the smaller side just take a bit longer to get going.

Agreeing with @Thehop - especially the emcs. I had one with my 1st and an unplanned, but not emergency (failure to progress) with #9. Fells like I went full circle 🤣

SnackSizeRaisin · 22/11/2021 20:34

Hop on your bathroom scales, check your weight, get your DH to hand you the baby and weigh both of you, then simple arithmetic. I do it with the dog! It works best with digital scales BTW.

That won't be accurate enough for a 6lb baby. Better to use kitchen scales if you have decent ones. Most do up to 4 or 5 kg.

Sounds like you're doing well now anyway...I sometimes think the advice to pump all the time makes things so much harder and is unnecessary if the baby can latch well...

@onlyreadingneverposting8 you are an absolute bloody hero. 🙌

Speak to these wonderful people - helped me so much in a similar situation in the early days

A lot of very experienced women who speak good sense

KatieKat88 · 22/11/2021 21:49

@BeastOfBODMAS I remember my midwife telling me that which scales you use makes a difference when they're so little as they can register them differently (so for example hers would be slightly different to those in the weigh clinic etc). So I wouldn't feel disheartened - your normal midwife seems sensible and you seem to be on the right path.
