To expect the delivery man not to leave 4 boxes and 2 parcels outside my frontdoor for all the world to see, whilst I am out!

I am so cross, not only did it show that there was no one in my house, but anybody could have taken my shopping! What if I had gone away? They were not small boxes either!

(mind you they would have had a bit of a shock if they had taken the boxes!- 9 packs of Tena lady pads!!!!!) Which also made me a bit more cross, as one of the boxes were open and so you could see what was being delivered to me!!

A cat food timer on for 2 weeks?

Poor kitty cat.

My post lady has left things in the bin two days runing but she did put a card to say she had done it and agreed not to do it on collection day!

lilylilyrose · 19/12/2007 14:07

YANBU! I came home from the doctor this morning to find a massive parcel not-so-cleverly tucked behind a potted conifer next to our front door. I don't know why the postie doesn't just try next door!

The Littlewoods drivers, on the other hand, have taken to flinging my parcels over the fence at the side of the house

suzywong · 19/12/2007 14:09

Gosh, I must lead a charmed existance. I usually put on the delivery instructions 'May be left in porch' and thats always been fine. Otherwise, things get left with neighbours - theres always a card through but the neighbours usually bring the stuff round once they know we're in (and vice-versa).

I did once return from xmas hol to find large bouquet of lilies in the side alley - been there a week and frozen solid. Brought them inside... and blow me down, they thawed, opened and lasted till the end of January!

willow · 19/12/2007 14:25

NAB - presuming it must have been dried food! Can you imagine the stench otherwise?

BettySpaghetti · 19/12/2007 14:31

Home Delivery Network are the worst around here.

They've left Amazon parcels (ie. books, which are not known for their water resistant qualities ) out in the snow and have hidden other things randomly around our back garden.

southeastastra · 19/12/2007 14:32

if you're going to order alot of packages maybe it's worth getting a box that can be locked after delivery or stay in.

cyanarasamba · 19/12/2007 14:38

One delivery driver left £900-worth of cutlery which was a wedding present IN THE WHEELIE BIN. ON BIN DAY. Pure fluke I looked down when putting the rubbish out... Suppose it didn't get wet?

pinkbubble · 19/12/2007 14:40

The trouble is southeastastra I work every morning until 12, and they said they would deliver between 8am - 6pm. I cant take time off just in case I receive a parcel! If I could have had an afternoon time slot then I would have been ok, just not an all day slot!

We had a crate of wine left outside in the drive yesterday - we were in but the delivery burk didn't even ring. Someone could very easily have taken that (a present - we weren't expecting it).

Next left a coffee table outside my front door the other week, my house fronts straight onto the street. I could barely open the flipping door to get in!

The woman on the phone when I rang up and shouted said 'well at least you noticed it' well yes, there was that...

donnie · 19/12/2007 18:18

I actually ask for all my deliveries to be left outside the door if Im not in - touch wood nothing has been pinched yet!!

pinkbubble · 19/12/2007 20:24

Donnie, doesn't that make you feel vulnerable? I would worry that I am advertising my house being empty! Especially at this time of year.

I suppose it is a bit silly of me. My neighbours on both sides tend to be around and often take things in for me when I am out, plus we aren't on a busy road and also my front door is up a path etc....not that visible iyswim.

1dilemma · 19/12/2007 22:48

So I'm not the only one whose postie leaves stuff on the front step!!!
Trouble is front door is right by street in centralish London, in averagey area, stuff keeps getting nicked, lost 3 parcels in Summer that way, just had one with written al over PLEASE DON'T LEAVE AT FRONT DOOR KEEPS GETTING STOLEN written on it and where was it

yes
the front step!!

feetheart · 19/12/2007 23:07

I can top them all (apart from the cat one!)
Bloody delivery driver couldn't get an answer yesterday so lobbed an M&S Port and Stilton hamper over our 7' gate
It had FRAGILE written all over the fecking box!!

pinkbubble · 19/12/2007 23:25

I guess it takes more paper work if they have to take it back to the yard!!!!!! Meanwhile we all suffer!

ggirlsbells · 19/12/2007 23:36

Am not on main road though.
