To be annoyed about Sony and the Playstation 5

I know its a first world problem but I've been trying to buy one for the family since it came out. That's a year now. Stock drops today at amazon and game. Missed out on both despite being in a virtual queue for an hour. I've come close so many times but always missed out.

Look on ebay and there are literally thousands listed. People boasting at having sold over 85 consoles - so how much of that profit did they pay tax on then? I just want to buy one for my family and not pay a scalper for the privilege. Feel like giving up to be honest.

Sony have managed this so badly. And it's their loss as that's already a years worth of their games we haven't bought. We did try one but it won't work properly on the PS4 so no point.

I know there are bigger issues and we are lucky to be able to afford one at all - at what would bit its normal price - but this has really annoyed me this morning. Rant over.

I followed some twitter accounts and put notifications on to hear about stock drops. I eventually had success with ee. Hope you find one!

I've bought two in last months for me and DH, using telegram stock alerts. I also had set up accounts and logins for all the major retailers. The second was harder to get it took weeks of jumping on Stock alerts. The alerts I caught were between 8 and 8.30am. At very and littlewoods. It was hard work but doable. It isn't sonys fault BTW.

Also we bought any bundle available and the stock alerts were from stock informer.

I was feeling the same but followed PS5 UK stock on twitter. Heard about the amazon drop today ... i had already added a PS5 to my wish list (I am a prime customer) and got one first thing. Didnt have to wait in a queue. Sounds like it was pure luck on my part

I have won a PS5 VIP priority code from Curry's that I forgot I had signed up for. You have to take the code to Curry's before the 20th Nov. I already got DS2 one in April, you are welcome to the code if you want it OP? It is first come, first served in Curry's though so you might need to ring your local store and check if they have stock? PM me if you want it.

DH got one last month, saw that Argos was expected to get stock in the next day, so got there just as they opened and was able to get one. No queues or anything, the guy behind the counter said they usually go live on the website for Argos after the store has opened so if you get in early you can beat the bots that are buying them online to sell on eBay.

DS saved hard for his and spent months on Discord and various fora following rumours and missed out a couple of times. We ended up bagging one from Argos at 3.30am (he was fasting so up to eat and spotted it).

Because they both want to play at the same time?

DH and I both had a PS2 because we played EQOA in the same guild. Lots of couples we knew through online gaming used to both play SOCOM in a ladder league. So you need a console each.

It's hardly beyond imagining really.

Definitely agree with looking at the less expected outlets. DH managed to get the new xbox and Switch Oled from Very with relative ease. Although the switch was preordered and I am not allowed to play on it until Christmas

I think you have more chance of buying a unicorn than finding a PS5 before Christmas.

In my house we have two xboxes, one PlayStation and four switches now. Its my money, I'll spend it how I want.

Was the chip shortage the reason for last years PS5 stock problem? Real question btw.

I think the people buying them and selling at a higher price are cheeky sods. Can't believe how much CEX mark them up.

I agree with people about going for the unwanted bundle first. V good advice.

Yes and it will be a problem for the foreseeable future.

Maybe they should have waited until they had enough stock going out at once so that this wasn't a problem. They must have realised what would happen with such a limited amount being released each time...

Don't get me started on the chip shortage - perhaps if manufacturers realised that we don't want or need wifi in our dishwashers, washing machines and fridges then there wouldn't be a shortage... But that is a whole other rant!

Definitely! I was looking for a dryer today and even some of the cheaper models can be controlled from your phone! Who wants that! I just want a basic model with a timer so I can use cheap rate electricity. Same with a big display on the front of fridges

I would also recommend signing up for twitter alerts. I set up notifications for PS5 Stock UK & managed to get a PS5 bundle from Game. Also signed up for an email code from BT which you need if you try to buy from them when they get stock in.

I’m an EE customer and managed to get one through them. Same price but you pay it over a year alongside your phone bill. Could be an option?

I've been trying to buy one for over a year. It did make me a bit miffed with them at first, but then I read Sony are sending the components to make extra ventilators during the pandemic.

It's worth using less obscure retailers. I needed to get one for my Dad's friend, and had been on the Game, Argos and Smiths during October and kept getting stuck in virtual queues and missing out.

Finally secured one from Very of all places, it's being delivered in 2 weeks. Also had to buy a bundle with an extra controller, but I suppose it's good if you want to get involved in 2 player games.

I am after a Nintendo Switch OLED in Neon, if anyone hears anything please do let me know! Have signed up for all the alerts but nothing. Can't afford a random bundle and paying out more for a game she doesn't want so just after the console, thank you!
