to think DP is being unfair? (lighthearted...well, relatively!)

DP and I are currently looking for a new (rental) home.

Found this beauty online, within search area and budget.

DP has said no, because we have no need for a pony paddock. And apparently getting a pony specifically to put in the paddock is even more unreasonable Grin

I consider this is very unfair, and have even offered to mow the extensive grounds and the paddock (no idea how, not sure my Flymo is up to the task!). However, he is not budging.

So either YABU - DP is right, this house is madness

or

YANBU - it's chocolate box perfection, get on to the letting agents asap.

Go for it. Get some alpacas too.

whiteroseredrose · 16/11/2021 12:03

Wow. That is a gorgeous house. YWBVVVU not to get it.

I'm a definite townie but could be swayed by that!

CrazyBaubles · 16/11/2021 12:11

As pp's have said, YABU to only consider getting a pony - you need at least 2 donkeys or goats (entertaining to watch plus environmentally friendly as they'll eat all your waste and the grass so you won't need to mow the lawns).

Tell your DP that the whole of MN thinks he's being UR, and you will accept chickens, donkeys or goats as an apology!

It's fab I'd tell your DH that if he agrees you can rent it he can have a sit on mower as his very own boys toy...

Notadramallama · 16/11/2021 12:17

one acre isn't enough to keep one pony on (and they shouldn't be kept alone) - it'd be a bog in about five minutes.

IDidntWearASmileToday · 16/11/2021 12:25

Divorce your DH and marry me instead, I'll move in with you and a pony or 3

TatianaBis · 16/11/2021 12:26

He’s only a DP…

PeeAche · 16/11/2021 12:39

Men's wishes are often thwarted by their own total inability to find and administer an alternative option.

My DH didn't want a black fireplace. He thought that saying so was enough. That I, doting wife, would take his veto on board and dutifully come to him with other options.

I did not.

I waited 3 more weeks and then purchased and installed the black fireplace. He had his chance.

Get the house. Get the pony. Then get a "back ache" so that DP has to muck it out...!!

longtompot · 16/11/2021 12:55

Wow, that's an amazing house! Your dh is def bu. My ds and his gf are renting a one bed flat for that same amount. Admittedly it's 20 mins south of Bristol, but still, a whole house for the same amount as a 3 room flat. Shame it's too far for her to commute otherwise I'd show it to them.

Courtier · 16/11/2021 13:02

Wow! My friends pay that much for a bedroom in a house share in London. What a beautiful property

LuaDipa · 16/11/2021 19:09

Did your dh not see the price??

Snap it up right now!!

TatianaBis · 16/11/2021 19:40

How’s it going OP?

However, he is not budging

So you don’t budge right back.
