WHY ARE THERE STILL FIREWORKS?!?!

Justheretoaskaquestion91 · 12/11/2021 19:43

AIBU (yes but still) for being a fiery ball of rage about the fucking fireworks!!!!!!!!!!!! IT IS A WEEK AFTER FIREWORKS NIGHT!! WTF?!

Whatever people think of fireworks (and I’m
not a fan anyway) it’s a bit like fair enough on fireworks night or the nearest Saturday. Fair enough Diwali.

But what’s the 12th November?!

Or is it just me that lives near inconsiderate wankers?! 😭🤬

@MeanderingGently

I love fireworks. You are lucky to still be having them, I'm envious. Learn to love them, problem solved. Some people are so boring about fireworks....
Tell that to my friend whose dog died of a heart attack last week.
BeaucoupFish · 12/11/2021 21:48

@WeeM
That is so sad, poor dog and your friend

cleaning247 · 12/11/2021 21:51

Still going off here night after fecking night.

Summersdreaming · 13/11/2021 09:44

I don't get people saying that weeks of crappy corner shop fireworks being set off until the early hours of the morning is fun Confused.

I like fireworks, I've been to the championships at Blackpool many times, but what happens in my area is not fun, it's anti social behaviour. Tuesday night they started going off very close to my house at 1am - why???

Maybe you can meander gently off this thread? 😬[/quote]
That's far too kind. Goady as fck is spot on for that particular post.

Yet more of the b'stard things going off tonight.

Rockybooboo · 13/11/2021 17:43

I know that a lot of the schools in our area are having displays as they're big money makers and school funds have been hit hard during covid. They have them on different nights so they don't clash.

PrincessPaws · 13/11/2021 17:58

We have them going off every night here too, so also seem to live in a world of inconsiderate fucking arseholes with few brain cells. For anyone who is sick of the impact of fireworks on their animals the RSPCA are gathering data. This came from Facebook

STOP PRESS: The RSPCA reporting log has gone live. Please use it to report any problems you have with fireworks/animals as the government need facts and figures before they take any action. Up to now there have been no official figures because no one is collecting and collating the information. This is an official RSPCA initiative to provide government with the information they

Although it may look like a one off survey it CAN and should be completed EVERY time an animal is affected by fireworks. You can complete it as many times as you need.

You can find it on the RSPCA website. From their main page www.rspca.org.uk/ go to the menu and select:

Because people haven’t used up all the fireworks on Diwali/ bonfire night and need to use them all up.

I don’t bother with fireworks but this annual drama on MN is boring. It’s the same every year but still seems to catch people like OP by surprise Hmm

WildRosie · 13/11/2021 18:53

West Yorkshire. Still going off here tonight too. I wouldn't mind them so much if they were quieter.

Dontgetyerknicksinatwist · 13/11/2021 18:57

We didn’t hear any in my town this year. We love on a hill and saw a few go off but miles away.

PinkWaferBiscuit · 13/11/2021 18:59

Because people haven’t used up all the fireworks on Diwali/ bonfire night and need to use them all up.

This doesn't make any logical sense. In the history of firework displays no one has ever had any left over. Even 100s of pounds of fireworks is only at most a five minute display. No one buys fireworks and thinks you know what I'll keep some back for next week. Confused

TuftyMarmoset · 13/11/2021 19:01

@DeepaBeesKit

Where do you live out of interest? I've lived in a town in south west, london, and home counties and never heard fireworks except the friday/sat night before/after bonfire night, diwali, and NYE.
I'm in Berks and can hear fireworks going off right now
kathmacc · 13/11/2021 19:01

Currently playing Relax My Dog on YouTube- dog settled and asleep on settee now -still needs his walk - if I can get him out of house -didn’t realise 13th November was a special day either!

Bucks. And they'll go off every single day until after new year
BeaucoupFish · 20/11/2021 17:58

They have just started going off tonight ! 🤬🤬🤬

usee · 22/11/2021 15:43

We had fireworks going off again last night. Very loud and going for ages.

daimbarsatemydogsbone · 22/11/2021 16:30

I like fireworks, but agree it's wank to be still letting them off.

Ours stopped last week, haven't heard any for ages.

fiftyval · 22/11/2021 16:41

Our MP is consulting his constituents about putting forward a bill to limit the use of fireworks to specific dates only - eg 5th Nov and nearest weekend; Divali; NewYear. I am all in favour of that as we will all know when to expect noise and plan accordingly.

Whilst I am not opposed even in the unlikely event this was passed there is zero chance it could be enforced.
BeaucoupFish · 22/11/2021 21:56

@daimbarsatemydogsbone
But it is a step in the right direction

Pigeoninthehouse · 27/11/2021 21:13

fire works going off by me tonight 27th November. I guess people must still be using up their old fire works.

Overthegardenfence · 28/11/2021 00:23

Going off by me again as well sick of it my poor dog is panting and shaking and has wedged herself behind the sofa Sad

So you know everyone do you? Plenty of people don’t get round to using all their fireworks and use them the week after.

Not me, I see fireworks as on a par with smoking, literally burning money.

Ubiquery · 28/11/2021 05:38

Not quite literally.
