Why is this soooo bloody painful

Currently 30 weeks pregnant really suffering with this. Can't take anything but paracetamol. Can barely walk at times. Both feet hurt but only one has PF luckily.

Any tips to cope? I want to chop my foot off. Been advised physio might help which I can pay for but will it really help?! Thank you

YABU it's just foot pain get over it

I went NHS route and got specially made inserts for my trainers. I wasn't pregnant though. That's a whole different ball game. Hopefully it will improve once baby is out. I had hip dysplasia when I was pregnant and could barely walk. Completely cured as soon as I'd given birth.

I tried all the above. The only thing that helped was wearing something like the attached pic ALL the time i wasnt out of the house, including when i slept. The issue is when you are asleep the foot relaxes and starts to heel so when you get up and put weight on the foot you break the stuff that has heeled overnight when your foot and ankle has relaxed. Although it takes a bit of getting used to the boot keeps your foot in the correct position so gradually heels correctly
@TotallySuper I had terrible PF with my second pregnancy. Appeared on just the one side at about 14 weeks but was fairly constant by the third trimester. I saw a physio late in pregnancy who spotted that my pelvis had basically become lopsided and fixed it. I had further sessions postnatally over about 6 months to keep correcting it as my body slowly went back to normal.
How odd as this is also my 2nd. I'll definitely speak to the midwife to try and get something sorted through NHS as two of you have mentioned the pelvis now. Thanks.

Read Simple Steps to Foot Pain Relief by Katy Bowman. She is a rare example of someone who thinks about how the whole body works ie doesn’t tell you to do something as if the foot exists in isolation and indeed out of real life use. Her other books are good as well.

I had this for a couple of years - soooo painful. I found that what worked (after a lifetime in flat shoes and trainers) was shoes with heels - not stilettos or anything, just a couple of inches. Fine now (and back in flats!)

My GP advised me to wear Fit Flops. I've hardly worn anything else in the 10 years since then and the PF has never come back.

Soopermum1 · 12/11/2021 00:01

Fit flops for me. My mum recommended them. We don't wear anything else

MrsHookey · 12/11/2021 00:06

I bought an arch support in Boots and it was tolerable after this

Franticbutterfly · 12/11/2021 00:56

I've had it a few times and what got rid of it in 2 days was getting a massager and massaging legs and feet for ages. Obviously this probably isn't advisable for you as you are pregnant, but once baby comes it may help.

@Undercoverdetective

A pharmacist advised me to try an insole with an arch support. It made walking much less painful. Might be something to try.
This worked wonders for me and also a spiky ball

To those who mentioned about seeing a physio as it might be due to my pelvis in pregnancy, I've just realised today that for the last couple of months I'd periodically get a sharp pain in the left side of my pelvis, given that it's also my left foot thats killing me I think you're possibly right about the pelvis thing! Phoning the midwife today to see if I can get some NHS physio as I really don't want to pay that much ideally.

I am currently suffering from this since August. Went to podiatrist who as well as the exercises mentioned , did acupuncture on the foot . Needle going in was incredibly painful briefly but it does seem to have helped.
