Going on holiday next summer. Group of us. 4 adults 4 kids. Kids will share rooms in 2s. Adults all need own rooms, all single women.

How do you divide the cost? Total price divided by 8 so price pp? Or should it be price per room? Rooms vary massively.... One has four poster and an en suite and another is tiny with two little single beds.

I just want it to be fair. What would be reasonable?

I think it's 5 plus mezz so swanky, double, double, medium twin, poky twin, everyone can see you mezzanine

Names in a hat for rooms. 50% price for kids.

munchkinman · 09/11/2021 17:53

Just divide it unless one adult and their children are taking up more rooms. Write all the rooms down and draw them out of a hat to make it fairer

StillWalking · 09/11/2021 18:01

So it’s two adults with two kids each, and two none-parents. Assuming the siblings are sharing, then each parent pays for their room plus the cost of their kids room (so two rooms), and each non-parent just pays for their room. Draw lots for which adult gets which room. It’s not reasonable to expect the two adults with no kids to supplement the two who have them (unless they want to do so, of course).

StoneofDestiny · 09/11/2021 18:19

I'd do one price for adults and 1 for children. Then draw lots for the rooms.

cherish123 · 09/11/2021 18:24

Each mum pays for themselves and their child/ren.

WickedWitchOfTheTrent · 09/11/2021 18:36

Divide by 8. Names in a hat to decide on the rooms for the adults

flippertyop · 09/11/2021 18:46

We do this all the time with fiends. There are 6 rooms. Divide by 6 - the adults pay a sixth and 2 kids sharing a room pay a sixth together )or a twelfth each). The size of the rooms is irrelevant to the cost. For us it's whoever gets there first 😂

Celestine70 · 09/11/2021 19:36

Pay for your own room and your kids room or half of your kids room if they are sharing.

Londoncallingme · 09/11/2021 19:41

@Pumpkinsonparade

Forgot to add that all working adults split cost of accommodation equally.
So what happens if one adult doesn’t work?

Sounds about right.
Pumpkinsonparade · 09/11/2021 19:51

There are 4 adults in our group. All work.

SnozPoz · 09/11/2021 20:19

Really important to know if it's one child to every adult? As a rule I'd say the kids pay 50% each seeing as they are sharing and you draw lots for who gets the other rooms and it's equal payment for the rooms.

Kinko · 09/11/2021 21:24

Divide the cost equally, draw names out of a hat for the best rooms

KaycePollard · 09/11/2021 21:36

That would REALLY piss me off. It’s not fair - how can you compare a futon on a mezzanine with a full double in a large private room?

KaycePollard · 09/11/2021 21:58

@Ohfurflipsake

No one is going to fall out. We are all easy going and good friends.

The adults all need their own rooms. Unfortunately there are only 5 bedrooms and a mezzanine floor with a futon.
4 bedrooms have doubles/kind size and one has two single beds.

Thanks for all the opinions on how to split these costs. Appreciate it Smile

Late to this update, but it seems obvious to me that the children are in the mezzanine with a futon and the room with 2 single beds.

Then each adult has a room with a double bed.

I’d be inclined to allocate the double with the en suite to one family on condition that they didn’t use the communal bathroom, to take the pressure off a bathroom being used by 5 people!

This was answered early on. 2 kids per women for 2 women.
threatmatrix · 10/11/2021 09:51

But what if you end up in a shitty room and someone paying the same price is in a beautiful room?

SleepingStandingUp · 10/11/2021 10:03

I'd tell them I want to spoon them.

yikesanotherbooboo · 10/11/2021 17:58

@threatmatrix that is why you draw lots.
