Does anyone do this?

I remember doing this a lot as a teen, so I’d have lots of different outfits to go out in, but couldn’t afford. It was either from the catalogue or from shops.

Haven’t done it since, but was reading about how many fashion influencers on Instagram etc do

Minging, and inexcusable.

RandomMess · 07/11/2021 21:37

Nope, never

Sparklingbrook · 07/11/2021 21:38

No. Not as a teen and not now, and I'd judge anyone that did. What about the tags?

Sunshinealligator · 07/11/2021 21:39

No that's pretty disgusting.
I recently got a pair of trousers delivered that had obviously been worn out and returned.

Do you not care that people then end up buying the clothes you'd worn and returned after use?

SmellyTheSmeolaSmoteSmestika · 07/11/2021 21:39

You seem quite giddy about this. Are you considering it?

OverByYer · 07/11/2021 21:40

Urgh never have never would. Practically theft.

xxxGirlCrushxxx · 07/11/2021 21:40

Vile behaviour

It’s dishonest, disrespectful and a bit dirty.

nimbuscloud · 07/11/2021 21:42

In m&s recently
The lady at the returns desk was sniffing the crotch of a pair of jeans that someone was trying to return
You couldn’t pay me enough to do that job

It also sounds like you're asking in a group full of teens. Even as a teen, it's inexcusable.

Massiveroastdinner · 07/11/2021 21:44

I would never do it now and was pretty shocked to hear that bloggers etc do this on a pretty regular basis

@SmellyTheSmeolaSmoteSmestika Yes, it definitely wasn’t a good thing to do, we all did it and looking back it’s awful.

You might have. We didn't all do it.

SmellyTheSmeolaSmoteSmestika · 07/11/2021 21:46

No we didn't all do it. I know I didn't.

TheFairyCaravan · 07/11/2021 21:47

My sister used to do it. She probably still does. She’s got no morals though and her standards are pretty low.

Years and years ago I was friends with a woman whose partner was in the RAF. He was being deployed for 4 months so she went to BHS and bought some sexy undies. After she’d worn them the night before he left she took them back saying they didn’t fit. The staff didn’t even check them. I never bought any underwear from BHS again and I wash all new clothes before I wear them.

Dojacatpaws · 07/11/2021 21:48

Never done it and I've been really broke

Twofurrycats · 07/11/2021 21:48

Nope I don't but people certainly do.
I bought a load of ex catalogue stock to sell on line. Most of it was new but some was returns. Some had either never been opened or just tried on. Some had obviously been worn. The main offenders were evening dresses: make up stains, fake tan marks, perfume, food stains. Children's coats were another one. Often had things in pockets.

WeatherwaxLives · 07/11/2021 21:48

When I was a kid there was outrage when one of the town councillors was found to be doing that with evening dresses she 'bought' from a small local business.

Strangely they always turned out not to fit the day after an event Hmm

She came unstuck when her photo was in the local paper in a dress she'd returned!

Massiveroastdinner · 07/11/2021 21:50

@pianolessons1 My friends at school etc

No never

Tittyfilarious81 · 07/11/2021 21:52

It's vile I remember getting a top online from very it turned up and absolutely reeked of cigarette smoke and had deodorant stains on the pits too , could not believe it hadn't been checked when it was returned Angry

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 07/11/2021 21:54

I recently received an order from next and it had clearly been worn. The smell when I opened the bag was horrendous. The dress had quite obviously been in a dirty laundry pile for a while.
Pissed me off massively as I needed the dress for a wedding and it had sold out. It was a maternity dress, so not like there was loads of other dresses to choose from.

I've never sent anything back I've worn and I don't know anyone who would. It's disgusting and there's no excuse for it.

Myusernameisnotmyusernameno · 07/11/2021 21:55

I used to work in mothercare and this posh woman once tried to return baby clothes that had clearly been worn and washed. It's pretty grim and she made out I was the one with the problem

Megan2018 · 07/11/2021 21:55

Oh god, staff did this in the shops I worked in as a student, they didn't even buy it first! I couldn’t possibly say this included me….
As a proper grown up I think it’s appalling obviously. As a 16 year old I had a slightly different moral compass. But everyone was at it including the store management.
