Feeling sick with worry. Breast Clinic app today

TwentinQuarantino · 01/11/2021 13:50

I have an urgent referral to the breast clinic today at 5pm. Quite late and wish it had been earlier in the morning so it was done and dusted. But I guess I'm lucky I got an app so quickly within the 2 week wait as some hospitals are taking a lot longer.

But I keep thinking the worst and feel like I can't breathe, I'm so anxious and scared. Keep sneaking off upstairs to have a little cry as I don't want DC to see. DH isn't allowed inside with me but I want him nearby incase it's bad news. My right shoulder blade has been hurting for a couple of weeks, right breast is very tender and I've googled myself into an early grave. Just a few hours to go. I guess it will be a relief either way, this wait is killing me.

Thinking of you. I had a recall after a mammogram last year, had punch biopsies and eventually minor day investigative surgery resulting in the all-clear and back on 3 yearly mammograms.

Sorry, posted too soon.

So I hope everything will be ok. Flowers

Thank you all for your kind words!

All clear! Such a relief. It was very quiet and so I got seen straight away. Yes, the staff was really lovely and chatty - they put me at ease straight away. The doctor did a physical examination first and couldn't feel any lumps although did comment that my breasts feel lumpy. I told her my period is due this week which is probably why! She then sent me off for an ultrasound and the doctor and nurse there were lovely too, told me everything looks fine. Was done within half an hour.

DH makes me laugh. He was in the car and got all teary when I gave him a thumbs up Grin

This is great news. I’ve been where you are and the relief is so acute, life will feel really wonderful for a while. Enjoy it.

Inastatus · 01/11/2021 17:57

Fantastic news OP 😀

TwentinQuarantino · 01/11/2021 17:57

@SunshineCake1 you don't have to worry about that at all! They are happy to send us on our way after an all-clear and it's always best to get seen no matter how small a change in breasts. Wishing you the best of luck for Wednesday Flowers

@Angrymum22 sorry yours turned out to be cancer but I'm so happy to read you are cancer free now. You're right, there is no need to worry about things we can't control.

DS turns 1 in a couple of days and I was fretting how I will keep a happy face on at his party if it's bad news. I feel so daft now, but with so many of you going through this you'll understand the anxiety is real.

Great news OP! Now go & enjoy the rest of your life. Life’s so much sweeter after something like that.

Restawhile · 01/11/2021 18:11

Great news. Having been in this worrying situation a few times and I’m always rooting for this outcome.

I was one of the lucky ones three times.

The breast unit staff are amazing. I was referred last May deep in lockdown. Such wonderful kind professional staff who still looked after women for a breast issue whilst the country was reeling in a pandemic

These threads are helpful when others present with worrying symptoms and thankfully it isn’t always bad news. So happy for you.

MrsPnut · 01/11/2021 18:12

That's great news OP, enjoy your son's birthday.

Great news

CokeZeroAddiction · 01/11/2021 18:33

I hope you’ve been given the all clear by now. I just wanted to say I understand. I’ve been through it 5 times and every time it’s been benign, but I get more anxious as time goes on because I think I can’t keep getting lucky.

Now I have severe abnormal cervical cells so I’m worrying about that, that actually that could be cancer. So I just want to send you a hug x

Great news OP.
I'm pleasantly surprised by your experience.
I went to my GP last week with pain in my right breast, swelling, itchy, a rash, and reddening. It also feels very different to my left one, firmer and different shape now. GP examined me and said that because she couldn't feel a lump I would not be reffered to the breast clinic.
I queried this, as at times the other symptoms really are quite alarming, and she said if she reffered me they would just say no because there isn't a lump??

I too have quite fibrous boobs.

I'm wondering reading your thread if I should go back and push for a refferal? Or did they say the same to you?

Blackopal · 01/11/2021 20:46

Yes, I would suggest pushing for a referral, maybe ask to see a different doctor this time?
