This isn't a guy who has allergies or anything, it just came on all of a sudden.
I legged it after an hour or two of his random coughs and sniffles. AIBU here or should he have buggered off to WFH after the 3rd or 4th cough? Fun, the wait begins!

@Whitefire

Good job you don't work in my office op. Grin (I Grin or I Sad)

However saying that if I couldn't go to work or had to go home every time I had a headache I would never be there.

I have a headache almost daily and they are fine with that. It's more if it's different to normal, which my cold/flu headaches have always been compared to what I have most days.

Grow the fuck up

Jesus. You are NBU. Respiratory symptoms in a respiratory pandemic with 150k dead in the UK alone. Go home.

JesusIsAnyNameFree · 28/10/2021 22:29

@Lokdok

Grow the fuck up
I think I can safely say I am more grown up than you, Lokdok.

@JesusIsAnyNameFree

I mean, 77% of people disagree with you 🤷‍♀️

Anyway, I really hope you manage to get a bit of help with your health anxiety. My friend has suffered quite badly with it through the pandemic but is starting to relax a lot more now. I think it's going to be a tough winter but not like last year. Try not to worry.

I mean, mumsnet isn't representative of the real world, which I think many people tend to forget. It's concentrated batshittery and it's pretty entertaining sometimes.

I really don't have health anxiety.

I didn’t mean to disregard what you are saying - but I get tired of hearing oh someone sneezed better work from home. Some of us can’t and have had to work through the pandemic. I know covid is serious my in laws both died in March within 10 days of each other. My father in law died on the day of my mother in laws funeral. But life has to go on and we have to get back to some sort of normality.

Bizawit · 28/10/2021 22:45

It's great for people who don't have any reason to worry, isn't it? I have an asthmatic husband as well, and I am terrified of him dying and leaving me with 2 kids

And you want to cry because you have to go into work tomorrow? I thought you said you didn’t have health anxiety!

Lightswitch123 · 28/10/2021 22:47

You sound like a fun colleague OP. Polite too.

MazIsWin22 · 28/10/2021 22:48

Haha this made me laugh Grin Don't worry I would have panicked as much as you did thinking it was coronavirus. My partner coughed earlier and we just gave each other "the look" haha. I'm sure its just a seasonal cold/flu but you can never be too careful

I want to cry because I need to attend a meeting at 6 am and I wasn't told until 8 hours before.. What on earth does that possibly have to do with health anxiety?

So why not agree that what this man has done is foolish?

@VanillaAndOrange why not read my posts ..?

wavecatcher · 28/10/2021 22:50

It's not him it's you, I would suggest seeking help for your health anxiety.

I really think people should read up on health anxiety. It looks so silly when people throw it around like this.

I can't even be arsed reading all your sanctimonious rude replies but if I worked in your office I'd be tempted to fake covid symptoms just to get you to stay away .

I do have reason to worry (cancer). I said I would be concerned in your situation. I also said and I still think that you haven't handled your own thread well. It would mostly likely have gone very different way if you had been more pleasant whilst standing your ground.

Why should I be pleasant to people who aren't pleasant themselves/spreading misinformation?

Looubylou · 28/10/2021 22:59

Those who think they can tell the difference between a cold and covid, without testing, are kidding themselves. Lots of people appear to have a heavy or even slight cold, but are testing positive for covid, other's are negative with same symptoms.

MissCruellaDeVil · 28/10/2021 23:00

TheKeatingFive · 28/10/2021 23:03

Gosh I look forward to threads like these for the next ... forever 🤦‍♀️

LolaSmiles · 28/10/2021 23:09

To be fair TheKeatingFive we aren't going to get out of this as long as people idiots in my opinion think they they magic superpowers and can identify the cause of their coughs and splutters.

I want normality as much as the next person, but it's not difficult to get a test if you've got a new persistent cough.

I must admit I was hoping that after covid we might as a country develop a bit more of a considerate view regarding illness, but it seems we've quickly slipped back into coughing and spluttering all over our colleagues, and being physically present in buildings even when remote working would be a perfectly reasonable alternate.

REDHERO · 28/10/2021 23:11

What's with the every bloody cough is covid at the moment. So over the top
