To ask if your one boob is bigger than the other?

I have an appointment next week at the breast clinic due to a suspected lump and freaking myself out by overthinking and overworrying. My left breast has always been bigger than the other, but now with obsessively checking and poking I'm second guessing myself about everything. I'm questioning whether it always been like this.... how common is it to have them so visibly different, etc. Sad

Yep one bigger than the other. Noticeably imo but I’ve never asked anyone else.

Best of luck.

CreepySpider · 26/10/2021 17:38

Hope you get good news.

I have one bigger than the other.

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 26/10/2021 17:40

Asymmetrical breast sizes is normal, some women have a cup (or more) difference between the two.

However, it should be checked it if you have always been generally symmetrical and suddenly aren’t or if your smaller one suddenly grows in size.

WisestIsShe · 26/10/2021 17:40

Yes, one bigger than the other.

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 26/10/2021 17:41

Best of luck for your appointment Flowers

Watto1 · 26/10/2021 17:41

I think it’s more unusual to have two identical boobs! Humans aren’t perfectly symmetrical. We usually have one foot a bit bigger than the other, one hand a bit bigger than the other etc. I always have bras where one boob fits it perfectly but the other is either falling out of it or the cup gapes.

wobblywinelover · 26/10/2021 17:42

I think it's fairly common to have one bigger than the other. Try not to worry too much about the appointment, it's more than likely going to be a cyst, very common in ladies of a certain age. I've had about 3 so far, they just drain them if they're big. You'll have a mammogram and the doctor will discuss with you about how long you've had it etc. Is it there all through the month, ie not related to your periods? Sometimes ladies can get lumpy tender boobs around the time of the month. Good luck but try not to worry

PinkiOcelot · 26/10/2021 17:42

One of mine is bigger than the other. Not massively different, but different.

CatherineCawood · 26/10/2021 17:42

Totally normal. I'm a cup size different. Left is smaller.

TwentinQuarantino · 26/10/2021 17:42

Thank you ladies, that's reassuring.

My right breast is the smaller one, but that is also the one with supposed lumps. I say supposed, because the nurse practitioner felt a couple last week but I can't for the life of me feel anything. Neither can DH. I'm only a cup B so tiny and I would've thought it's easier to feel lumps on smaller breasts. Really hoping it's nothing to worry about.

As a person who works as a bra fitter, most people have one breast bigger than the other. It's normal. Although if one suddenly becomes bigger then that is a cause for concern.

SunshineCake1 · 26/10/2021 17:43

If it is larger but then has changed then yes, needs checking. I'm in that position now. It has always been marginally bigger but suddenly it was really much bigger.

Try not to worry. You are doing everything you can so no need to worry as you are being checked out.

Cupoteap · 26/10/2021 17:43

Yes, didn't used to but have recently lost some weight and now do

SunshineCake1 · 26/10/2021 17:44

My GP told me it is result hard times find lumps. I will add sometimes as I'm sure someone will rush to say they found one easily.

cushioncovers · 26/10/2021 17:45

Not bigger but my left nipple definitely hangs lower than my left. It's got more noticeable as I've got older. Its perfectly normal fir our boobs to not be symmetrical

londonrach · 26/10/2021 17:46

Every single woman will have one breast bigger than the other...even if they don't think they have. Try not to worry and get checked out x

SunshineCake1 · 26/10/2021 17:52

Nipple changes should be checked too.

Cryalot2 · 26/10/2021 17:58

I think most if not all have different sized breasts to varying degrees.

Wishing you all the best with your appointment.

TwentinQuarantino · 26/10/2021 18:00

Thank you. I dont really have anyone I can ask irl without worrying them needlessly.

Right breast is a little tender and sensitive, almost like a mild burning sensation. But other than that I've not noticed any changes to the nipple or skin. My period is due next week but the lumps were felt last Monday so mid cycle.

Hotfootit · 26/10/2021 18:01

Yup. Left is A-cup; right is a B-cup.

SunshineCake1 · 26/10/2021 18:05

The issue isn't that one size is bigger than the other as we all do. It is about any changes.

SisterAgatha · 26/10/2021 18:07

It wasn’t until I started breastfeeding and then the one that was more efficient with mild was like a mega boob. They shrunk back to normal after but one stayed slightly bigger.

SisterAgatha · 26/10/2021 18:07

Milk*

TracyLords · 26/10/2021 18:10

Yes!!! I thought this was the same for all
Women!

Hope your appointment goes well x

BashfulClam · 26/10/2021 18:13

Like every other part of your body both sides are different. I have almost a cup size difference. I went through the same in April and the breast clinic were really kind and respectful. I hope it’s like mine and nothing concerning.
