How much was your Invisalign

Hi everyone,

I want to start by saying I am only in my early 20s, I live in London, I am trying to save up for a deposit on my first home and really really hate my smile to the point where I do not smile in pics or like meeting new people in case they stare. I have a gap in my teeth and apart from that they’re pretty much straight

Anyway so this morning I went to the orthodontist for an Invisalign consultation. I was looking online for ages that the treatment will be around the 3000-4000 mark which I was sort of ok with. Turns out I have really bad enamel loss at the back of my teeth on quite a lot of my teeth. I have been struggling really bad with GERD (acid reflux disease) causing me to vomit quite a lot of the time. I was also pregnant couple years ago with really bad morning sickness I was vomiting everyday, sometimes a few times In the day for maybe about 2/3 months. So when I was told I have slight tooth decay I kind of expected it. Now… she says that the Invisalign itself is about £3800 but the fillings for all the teeth is bringing the cost TO £6000!!!!! Shock

I left the dentist feeling so low to be honest, beginning to second guess if it’s really worth it. I feel like I’m being mugged off though which is why I’m putting this up. I don’t know if an extra £3000 on fillings is actually reasonable or not. Like I said I do live in London (not even central which is the crazy thing) and I think that this dentist is supposed to be quite popular. Should I look elsewhere? I did pay £100 for an x-ray next week so she can give me more of an accurate price and maybe give me a more solid idea.

I need help if I should go ahead with the plan!!

My DC go to Precision Smiles in Northwood (on the met line). Have a good reputation so if you’re looking for a recommendation, I’d give them a call or visit. Colleagues and friends have used them too for children. Can’t say anything about their adult treatment but I’m considering it for myself. Invisalign seems to be around £3k.

I would caution you against using anything like Smile Direct Club- there is no professional input from a dentist who actually understands occlusion. Particularly important for you because you have erosion/wear in several teeth and this could complicate treatment or expected outcomes. Invisalign or similar systems with a dentist are costly, but it is far better to wait until you can afford it than do anything like Smile Direct.

I have lovely straight teeth using smile direct. Half the price and a really professional set up.

Would you consider fixed braces? My teeth were awful, I was actually turned away from 2 orthodontists as apparently my mouth was too complex…
My dentist referred me to the NHS ortho as a private patient and I spent 3 years in fixed, upper ceramic and lower metal, just had them removed at Christmas. Total cost for the braces including all appointments, X-rays, bonded and removable retainers was £2,900

I think you've somewhat missed my point...
