Parking thread

Hi,

Someone has parked us in, so I drew a diagram! Hope you enjoy it. Fortunately we don't actually have to go anywhere today.

The arrows in the diagram show where we have to drive our cars to get them out of the drives onto the road.

I put a sign under the windscreen wiper of the random badly parked car saying "Please do not park here again, we need to be able to get our car out."

I also photographed the car in case it becomes a habit.

There doesn't seem to be a way to report it unless I ring 101.

Have you knocked on your neighbours door to see if they're visiting them?

AutumnLeafy · 23/10/2021 08:24

I'd see if they were visiting your neighbours. Maybe get one of those signs that say access is required 24 hours if it becomes regular.

10/10 for diagram. I like ones done by hand better than computer aided ones.

ApolloandDaphne · 23/10/2021 08:24

Do you have a dropped kerb so it is obvious it's need as access?

Billandben444 · 23/10/2021 08:28

I agree about the dropped kerb. If you don't have one then you have no right of way over the pavement. If you do, then I'd be pissed off!

Dizzy1234 · 23/10/2021 08:29

10/10 for the diagram op, keep us updated, I have no advice but I'll be shamelessly 👀 for the outcome, I love a good parking thread

Lostmarbles2021 · 23/10/2021 08:30

Love a parking thread. Thanks OP. Am in bed feeling rough so I’m hoping this will be a nice distraction. Glad you don’t have to go anywhere. Smile

GoFindCoffeeAndSnacks · 23/10/2021 08:31

Great diagram!

neededafart · 23/10/2021 08:35

Love a parking thread.

Never heard the phrase 'parked us in' I quite like it

ElleStartingOver · 23/10/2021 08:38

Wonderful diagram.

I would crash my car daily if I needed to reverse out of your drive like that.

user1471462634 · 23/10/2021 08:42

Do you have a single yellow line by your dropped kerb (if there is one)? Are they're parking restrictions on yr road? Are there traffic wardens patrolling regularly?
I have yellow line on our dropped kerb, (in front of our garage!) parking restrictions allow to park on Sunday & evenings only. Some random parker got a ticket a few days ago, won't park there again don't think.

Unanananana · 23/10/2021 08:45

Do you have a dropped kerb? That is the deciding factor in this.

ElephantCup · 23/10/2021 08:53

@neededafart

Love a parking thread.

Never heard the phrase 'parked us in' I quite like it

Really? I am in the south west and it is common here
LubaLuca · 23/10/2021 08:57

Everything's hinging on that kerb, op.

WaterBottle123 · 23/10/2021 09:01

Here for the kerb update

sofakingcool · 23/10/2021 09:01

That is a magnificent diagram Smile

Cuntness · 23/10/2021 09:02

I'm in the south west and I've never heard it!

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 23/10/2021 09:02

Even if there isn't a dropped kerb, parking in front of someone's obvious access is still a twatish thing to do. Legally ok but morally twattish

StepawayfromtheBiscuittin · 23/10/2021 09:02

Excellent diagram and also delighted to see a parking thread!

Yamayo · 23/10/2021 09:03

Do you have a dropped kerb? Grin

Bingbong21 · 23/10/2021 09:03

South West too and also never heard of it!

TheUndeadLovelinessOfDemons · 23/10/2021 09:04

Lovely diagram!

PuppyMonkey · 23/10/2021 09:09

I mean there’s GOT to be dropped kerb involvement for a drive, right?

sittingonacornflake · 23/10/2021 09:36

Also south west and never heard of parked in.

Great diagram though.

StrongLegs · 23/10/2021 09:49

We do have a dropped kerb, but the car is gone now, so it all ended happily. :-)

I'm glad you enjoyed the diagram. :-)

Great little thread OP Smile

Also, to those in the South West who’ve never heard the phrase ‘parked in’ - I’ve lived in Bristol pretty much all my life and have heard it loads. Could be an older phrase though, like wearing a pair of ‘daps’ or going on the ‘slider’. I just don’t hear them used as much anymore
