Parking thread

Hi,

Someone has parked us in, so I drew a diagram! Hope you enjoy it. Fortunately we don't actually have to go anywhere today.

The arrows in the diagram show where we have to drive our cars to get them out of the drives onto the road.

I put a sign under the windscreen wiper of the random badly parked car saying "Please do not park here again, we need to be able to get our car out."

I also photographed the car in case it becomes a habit.

There doesn't seem to be a way to report it unless I ring 101.

Oddly, the car had a resident's parking permit for our area but we don't have permit parking in our street. So the owner must have been unable to park in their own permit controlled area, come to our street where it is free parking, and the parked plumb across our drive. That's pretty special.

Our street community did consider asking for permit parking a while back but then we found our that it would be a district thing, rather than parking only in our street. We also found that in the permit controlled areas there were fewer spaces than there were cars with permits, so we decided against that.

It's clear that we need access because we have a dropped kerb and a whopping great estate car parked in our front garden.

I have an arrangement with my neighbour that our visitors can park across each other's drives, but in those cases we always park 80% across the drive of the person who is being visited, and only a tiny bit across the other, so it wasn't that. Also it was 6am so a bit early to knock.

Anway. Job done, note received, and car gone.

I hope it jollied the day along for a while. I also really love a parking thread, with a good diagram. They're some of my favourites.

There should be an emoji for mock outrage. LOL!

Nice resolution OP. No inconvenience, a small bit of drama and a lot of happy MN'ers who got to read a parking thread with their morning coffee!

Thanks @StepawayfromtheBiscuittin Excellent stuff! That's how we like it.

Erm, I’m sorry but I needed to read that you blocked them in 😂
