Hi everyone

Over 50 and still not eligible according to the NHS booking system for a booster jab. My issue is the press / govt are saying that over 50s are eligible to book now and they are campaigning to increase the so called ''slow uptake' - however Ive been trying to book a booster jab for the past few weeks as an eligible person but to no avail. I feel what is in the press and what the govt is espousing is not what is happening in reality. Can I ask what mumsnetters experiences are of this please? thanks

It's the 6 months since last jab criteria.

Anonymouseposter · 22/10/2021 21:17

Link seems to only work properly For England.

DeJaDont · 22/10/2021 21:22

I'm 41 with a severely compromised immune system and my appointment for my third jab is on Tuesday. Booked earlier, took me two minutes and loads of slots near me.

winnieanddaisy · 22/10/2021 21:28

I'm lucky . I had my Pfizer booster last week after getting an email from the government telling me to book it . I'm having trouble getting my flu vaccine though .

NotMyCat · 22/10/2021 21:35

My parents got a text (71 and 72) and had theirs last week

I had mine 181 days from my second dose. So exactly six months. Was not able to book until day 180.

julieca · 22/10/2021 21:39

4.2 million people have had boosters. There are 3.2 million people over 80 in England.

Justonedayatatime11 · 22/10/2021 21:47

My second jab was in August, but due to being ECV and starting a new medication next week that's going to kill off my immune system, my GP contacted me and booked my booster for tomorrow morning... what are the chances that I'll be turned away?

ThinWomansBrain · 22/10/2021 21:51

the online booking worked this evening, A couple of days ago it got as far as was I NHS/Carer, then said I wasn't eligible (first attempt was six months plus 2/3 days)

480Widdio · 22/10/2021 21:59

Go to a walk-in centre! I did,181 days after my second dose, didn’t have to book and I wasn’t invited,I took responsibility for myself..Walk-in centres are shown on the NHS website, just put in postcode and up they come.

The centre I went to put it up on the local Facebook page.

Chloemol · 22/10/2021 22:00

It’s being done in the same order as before, and at six months after your second jab

It’s not a free for all for anyone over 50. You will get a letter when you can book

goose1964 · 22/10/2021 22:00

I had my second dose in April I'm 57 and dibetic, not eligible to book booster yet

SusieSusieSoo · 22/10/2021 22:01

Just booked dm in for next week - loads of appts available

Walk-in centres can be a long way from where some people live.

But their booking invites make no sense. DH and I had our second jabs on the same day, I had my invite to book my 3rd but he didn't get one. He is CEV. I am not. We're both late 50s. (He got a slot for his 3rd jab via the website)
pointythings · 22/10/2021 22:37

I've had my booster, got a text from my surgery. But I'm an NHS worker so got vaccinated very early on and my second was 7th of April.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 22/10/2021 22:40

I became eligible 2 days ago (exactly 6 months since 2nd jab) and booked and had my booster yesterday.

ghostyslovesheets · 22/10/2021 22:43

51 - got my invite via text a week ago - 6mths after my second vaccination - booked in Tuesday no problem

crossstitchingnana · 22/10/2021 22:44

It's 6 months since my second jab tomorrow and I had my booster today, at a walk-in clinic. The nurse said you can have it from two days before the six months is up.

justasking111 · 22/10/2021 22:46

I'm in Wales tried to book got an error message. GPS aren't doing jabs in our area there's one clinic for 60k people in a small government building, gawd knows when I'll get called. Friend of 70 is booked in for a months time

HunterHearstHelmsley · 22/10/2021 22:49

My DF is over 60 and CEV, my DM is over 50, I work in health care. We received our second jabs in April and all booked our boosters this evening. No problem for us.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 22/10/2021 22:50

The booster is next Friday. We could have got in sooner but the times weren't convenient with work.

Morporkia · 22/10/2021 22:56

Eligible, got the text, tried to book. Apparently I’m not eligible. Phoned 119 got told to book through website. DH needs it much more than me as he is CEV and waiting to start new meds ...been advised to have booster before said new meds... keeps getting told he’s not eligible. It’s a shambles...

Gladioli23 · 22/10/2021 22:57

@thegreywoman

I think Suffolk has walk ins running at 22 different locations over the next week or so, but if none of those are nearby it's worth popping a question on the Facebook page/twitter feed of the CCG as people from the vaccination programme are usually very good at answering any questions on there - they might know a pharmacy near you that could squeeze you in without an NBS appointment and just book you into the system when you arrived. Some smaller pharmacies I don't think use the NBS at all, but I'm not certain.
