Are you getting the flu jab this year?

Mid 30s just wondering if I should get the flu jab this year? Wouldn’t normally consider it but keeping hearing how as many people as possible need to get it.

No. Never had it and never had flu. I'm meticulous about washing my hands and always have been and it's rare I even get anything.

Myusernameisnotmyusernameno · 20/10/2021 22:19

I had it last year and paid for it but I won't have it this year.

TheGonnagle · 20/10/2021 22:19

Yep, about four weeks ago as I’m immunocompromised. Dh has had his, as have my mum and step dad. Daughter gets hers next week as does my dad. Not a year to piss about with chances and statistics.

Banani · 20/10/2021 22:19

Already had mine, and to every year.

WithASpider · 20/10/2021 22:20

Got mine tomorrow. Had my covid booster 2 weeks ago too. I'm 41.

Only one who doesn't qualify in this house is DD2.

Myusernameisnotmyusernameno · 20/10/2021 22:21

Oh and I did get flu in late February 2018 and felt like death

SisterBeaverhausen · 20/10/2021 22:25

Yes OH and I got them. I have underlying health conditions so get it free.

I remember having the flu about 14 years ago when I was at school and it was horrendous. I never want to get it again.

CampfireZen · 20/10/2021 22:25

Yes. Am 50. Plus have very vulnerable, elderly people in my life who, frankly, would be unlikely to survive if caught flu from someone.

I'd never forgive myself if that 'someone' was me.

reluctantbrit · 20/10/2021 22:28

I am under 50 and don't fall into the "free" categories but I decided this year to pay for it.

The whole family had the flu three years ago, just over Christmas/New Year. It was awful and I don't even want to think what it means to add Covid to the mix. So, better save than sorry in the hope the jab gets the right virus.

DD gets it in secondary school for the first time otherwise I would have got it for her as well.

DH is luckily old enough but we would have paid for it as well.

Snoopsnoggysnog · 20/10/2021 22:30

I’m booking it for next week. I’m early forties and I got proper flu twice when my toddlers were at nursery about 10 years ago. Actually thought I was dying and no desire to repeat that again so I have the jab every year since then.

BashfulClam · 20/10/2021 22:30

Got mine two weeks ago. Booked privately.

WhatsWrongWithMyUsername · 20/10/2021 22:31

Yes. Never have before, but don’t want to be responsible for adding flu into the mix this winter.

Finknottlesnewt · 20/10/2021 22:32

Let's put it this way

If any of you have actually had real flu.. and there is a vaccination that gives you a %chance of not getting it again - you would get it!!!

Only a numbskull would refuse it

shinynewapple21 · 20/10/2021 22:34

I now get it for free as over 50. Previously though I've paid for it at pharmacy and would have done that again this year if hadn't been able to get appointment at GPs next week .

393C0nvexati0n · 20/10/2021 22:38

Zapped today

89redballoons · 20/10/2021 22:41

Yep, appointment booked for next week. I'm pregnant so it's free this year. I've also nagged encouraged DH and my mum to get it. They also both get it free, DH because of asthma and my mum because of her age.

It was quite hard to book an appointment but we all managed in the end.

TheSpottedZebra · 20/10/2021 22:43

I had mine today! £8 in Asda, bargain.

My arm is a little achey but the other side is worse because I slept on it funny.

Longdistance · 20/10/2021 22:45

My work offers it for free. I’m asthmatic and would normally have it, but my work offering it is just a bonus and I don’t need to make an appointment and go somewhere else.

feeona123 · 20/10/2021 22:45

Work paid for mine…had it a couple of weeks ago.

nordica · 20/10/2021 22:46

Late 30s and already had it a couple of weeks ago.

I had swine flu when that was around the first time and then flu again a few years back, and wouldn't want it again.

Cheeseplantboots · 20/10/2021 22:47

No, I’ve never had one.

EmmaMaya · 20/10/2021 22:52

Yes - booked via Boots for next week.

batmanladybird · 20/10/2021 22:53

Mine is booked for week after half term
44 and paying privately

BeepBoopBop · 20/10/2021 22:56

Had mine last week, Boots as a walk in. Free & nhs records updated.

Coffeeonmytoffee · 20/10/2021 22:57

I've had flu once 24 years ago and I never want it again. So yes I've had mine.
