If you received this card, would you find it funny, or think it was rude?
Would you feel it was very poor taste?
Not meaning to offend anyone btw, more curious as to who would buy this kind of thing.

Offensive greetings card

That looks like it's sitting on a tablecloth, not still in a shop. So, have you actually bought that to give to someone? Poor choice.

The word 'freak' just isnt OK. It isnt funny or clever and it diesbt make any sort of pun on something. Not funny.

BluebelllsRosesDaffodills · 18/10/2021 16:29

@VainAbigail

That card is still in the cellophane so is it you thinking of sending it??
No, I would not send it to anyone. I found it while helping a neighbour to clear out the garage.

@NotSoNewAndShiny

This joke didn't land. Whoever wrote it needs to try again.

I can see it's meant to be edgy, crass and funny but it just sounds weird.

Totally agree, it didn't land!

I wouldn't find it offensive, just not funny and sort of 'pointless'

Skinnytailedsquirrel · 18/10/2021 16:30

It's horrible and not funny.

DroopyClematis · 18/10/2021 16:30

@XenoBitch

It is a case of knowing your audience. Some people would find it hilarious, and some offensive. You obviously would not send it to someone who would find it offensive.
This.
Keke94LND · 18/10/2021 16:31

I'm genuinely pretty laid back but I don't think I'd like my new baby being called a freak.. but it also might depend on who sent it and my relationship with them

GreyhoundG1rl · 18/10/2021 16:31

Only a moron would find that hilarious.

PooWillyNameChange · 18/10/2021 16:31

I'm pretty laid back but postpartum hormones are no joke and imagine i would actually find this quite upsetting!

Granllanog · 18/10/2021 16:34

I wouldn't buy it and I would be offended to receive it.

LiJo2015 · 18/10/2021 16:34

I'd find it funny. I'm assuming it's a congrats card for baby arrival?

DedalusBloom · 18/10/2021 16:35

I can laugh about virtually anything but that is absolutely awful.

RockinHorseShit · 18/10/2021 16:35

Not offensive, but not funny either

I'd normally buy cards like this for close friends though, but this one is just a bit shit

LiJo2015 · 18/10/2021 16:36

Ok - I take it back. I just read the writing. I would find it funny but it would have to be bought with extreme caution! It would be something my brothers would gave bought me.

DuvetDayIsEveryDay · 18/10/2021 16:36

I enjoy edgy, dark and crass humour.

This isn't that.

Wife2b · 18/10/2021 16:38

I’m as laid back as they come but that card is vile. Calling a baby a freak is never ok, good sense of humour or otherwise.

QueenofKattegat · 18/10/2021 16:39

I would find it funny. I'd laugh if I received it.

Saoirse82 · 18/10/2021 16:40

@Pythonista

If it's not sent to you, I don't get why you would be offended. You may think it's not funny but offensive?
OP is asking hypothetically IF you'd be offended if you received it.

The answer is yes OP, I would be. I could take a joke about my ruined vagina or something that poked fun at me but not calling my newborn a freak, and I'm not easily offended. People can call their own kids 'semen demons' or whatever else, but that's more lighthearted. But calling s newborn a freak no, I can't imagine many taking that lightly.

REP22 · 18/10/2021 16:40

I have a fairly advanced sense of humour but I can't see what's funny about that card in the context of a "congratulations" greeting. It doesn't offend me but I can see how some people would neither like it nor be amused by it, and I think there are plenty of reasonable people who would find it quite upsetting/insulting.

TableFlowerss · 18/10/2021 16:41

It’s just totally pointless. I wouldn’t find it funny and I’m not someone who’s easily offended.

BigYellowHat · 18/10/2021 16:42

I love the rude cards you can buy but somehow babies are off limits. I think I’d have cried if I’d have received something like that when my kids were born!

TableFlowerss · 18/10/2021 16:45

@BigYellowHat

Yes that’s exactly it. Some things are off limits and a new born baby is one of them. I don’t find anything remotely funny in suggesting their baby is huge.

If it was genuinely a big baby then you wouldn’t want to offend the parents and if it’s an average sized baby then it’s not relative at all.

As I’ve stated above, it’s pointless

TokyoTen · 18/10/2021 16:45

Definitely would not buy that whatever sense of humour the intended recipient had. Someone could be fragile after giving birth and obviously never refer to a new born as a freak. If I received it then I would bin it.

NeonTetras · 18/10/2021 16:45

I would find it offensive because who would give a card to a new mother calling their newborn baby "that freak"?

KittenKong · 18/10/2021 16:45

Can you imagine any new mum finding that funny? Generally you either are gazing at your baby (the most perfect baby ever born), or feeling detached, unsure and weepy. That card would probably not be received well.

Was it created by a 14 year old?

Helpimfalling · 18/10/2021 16:46

I'm really weird person and would send this to my besties as they get me but nope not after reading the word freak!

But I feel it refers to the person on the card and not you

But still no
