To expect a clean loo?

Mums' of boys, not sure how to ask this with out upsetting many, do your boys leave the toilet seat with urine droplets/ splashes everytime they've used the loo? I have no boys, just girls in the house. We have a play date with neighbours' kids, couple of boys and a girl, all under 8. I'm dreading it. When they've spent half a day here, the loo smells like a public urinal by the end of the day. Bathmats need changing once they've visited and not to mention the toilet seat 🤢 How do you deal with it.
YABU all boys are messy when it comes to a wee accept it and clean up
YNBU no not many do that, you are unlucky with your visitors

@PartyStory

It’s not just a boy problem. I hate using aeroplane toilets for this reason and wish they had separate male and female ones. So many men will come out before you, look you in the eye, only for you to find that they (and however many men before them) pissed all over the seat and didn’t clean it up, forcing the woman passenger who eventually comes to clean it up with only tissues available. Boke.
Disgusting isn't it. I somehow manage not to use the loo on a plane if I can help it. Last time the flight was 8 hours. I drink very little before the flight and go to the loo before boarding and try to eat little as well. I have IBS. Mind you I seem to have developed an overactive bladder so not looking forward to my next flight whenever that is. I always carry in my bag those Dettol hand wipes. dh was on a business trip before lockdown and took all 4 packets I had in cabinet with him AngryI was not a happy camper as it was months before I could get them again They are invaluable for clean ups.

If my 5yo gets pee on the toilet I'll ask him to wipe it up. He does need reminded but I'm hoping by the time he's older it will be second nature.

MerylSqueak · 17/10/2021 19:48

I don't have many problems with my 11yo. I used to ask him to wipe up if he left it a mess. Now he doesn't.

Dp and ds10.5 sit in this house!!!

lazyarse123 · 17/10/2021 20:54

Just remembered. I went to the one loo at work. All over the floor at the side was covered in piss.
I didn't clean it but put a massive note on the wall.
Can whichever person who pee'd all over the floor please clean it up and not with a mop. It's disgusting.
My boss took the note down after one day but i told all the blokes to make sure they aim properly.
I do clean a lot of their mess up but i draw the line at piss. It's not on to leave it for the cleaner either.

Oh dear… I have two girls but a baby boy and i’m dreading toilet training now! He already wees everywhere when I change his nappy! Had a boy Mum fail, didn’t realise you have to put their bits down… the midwife had to explain to me when we complained that he keeps weeing through all his babygrows. 🤣

Mydogdoesntlisten · 18/10/2021 08:02

I have to say, it's not just boys and men. I used a public loo (ladies) on Saturday and plenty of women had obviously felt it was fine to leave them in a disgusting state. Maybe we need to drum the idea of cleaning up after ourselves into daughters too?

In the olden days when my children were babies, we had boy nappies and girl nappies. I always assumed that extra padding was in different places. I was quite surprised when my first grandchild came along and the nappies are all unisex now. I don't know when it changed as my youngest is 27.

I might get a ping pong ball for my DH. As he’s got into his 60’s he’s seemed to have forgotten how to point it !

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 18/10/2021 08:08

I wouldn't gave mats down or anything, only when needed after a bath then hung back up .
Ds is 7 and sometimes there are drips even though he lifts the seat up . Pack of anti bac wipes next to the loo - I remind him to wipe up.
When a friends little boy used our loo it was everywhere Confused

Eileen101 · 18/10/2021 08:10

I've taught my 3.5 year old to sit down. DH was taught to pee sitting down by his mum or he'd have to clean the bathroom Grin

CatWarbler · 18/10/2021 08:11

@Mydogdoesntlisten I was going to write exactly the same post as you did - I fact when I saw your post I did a double take, thinking I had written it 😂🙈
