To think that the trend for buccal fat removal is worse than filler

I understand the immense pressure on young women in particular to look beautiful. It is pervasive and contributes to poor emotional health. However the never ending additions to treatments just make me feel sooo uncomfortable and sad.
The latest is buccal fat removal which involves sucking out the fat from inside a young women's face and with zygoma fillers they can create the illusion of high cheek bones.
Something so barbaric about it and I can see it everywhere. When will this shit end. How as women can we draw a line under more and more absurd treatments to make us "beautiful". It just feels never-ending...

I think think buccal fat removal is going to look awful when they are older and their faces naturally thin out.

I’m not against plastic surgery as what you get naturally is a lottery and good looks can make your life a lot easier. However, there is a big difference between getting something changed to look more “average” and getting something changed and trying to look like a supermodel. You need a top of the range surgeon for the latter and even then it can go bad. Not worth it in my opinion if you already look fine.

I think celebrities get plastic surgery a lot more than people realise. For example, no one would have noticed Linda Evangelista’s neck had the procedure worked and she hadn’t said anything.

As for Paris, she had an eating disorder when she was younger which is why she was so thin. She has been going to one of the best dermatologists since she was young and they are clearly using a “less is more” approach when it comes to injectables but even then, it’s not quite 100% natural looking.

TyrannosaurusRights · 16/10/2021 19:28

@Simonjt every person? Really?

You believe Katie Price needed her many surgeries? How about Michael Jackson?

MarshaBradyo · 16/10/2021 19:28

That sounds gross but I don’t get it

Where do they take the fat from? The chin? Yuk thinking about it

What plastic surgery do you believe Katie Price or Micheal Jackson have had?

Celebs aren’t having plastic surgery, they’re having cosmetic surgery.
PartyStory · 16/10/2021 20:17

Celebs aren’t having plastic surgery, they’re having cosmetic surgery.

The “plastic” in “plastic surgery” means changeable. Cosmetic surgery is a subset of plastic surgery.

junebirthdaygirl · 16/10/2021 21:13

There is such pressure every where to change yourself. I was in a Dermatologist waiting room recently waiting to have some moles checked for skin cancer. ( All was fine) But a video screen was running nonstop telling me how to get rid of this and that on my face and body..all cosmetic and all pretty normal aging stuff. The message was..you need to change/ this is ugly _ get rid of it..constantly. l was not bothered as couldn't care less but if l had insecurities the bombardment would be horrendous. And this is in a medical setting.
When/ how are we going to convince girls they are fine as they are. We all look back now at old photos thinking l was gorgeous then as l was young...how did l not know it? . I truly wish they would appreciate themselves right now.

Bluntness100 · 16/10/2021 21:22

You need to educate your self some more, you’re embarrassing yourself in your desire to be woke.

XenoBitch · 16/10/2021 21:26

The more these extreme procedures become a trend, the more they become normalised... and then you are the weirdo for not having them done. Just look at armpit and leg hair on women.

@Siameasy

I also couldn’t see much difference and I’m sorry, Chrissy bloody Tiegan isn’t attractive she looks odd
Oh honey, I hope when you look in the mirror you and everyone else sees someone so attractive you knock her out the park

Becayse otherwise that’s a bit of a bitter twatish comment,,no?

MrsCatE · 16/10/2021 21:38

Bloody hell. That explains a lot of why they all look the same - also how various definitions of beauty start to become rampant. Absolute madness. I read an article about dimples being the ‘cutest thing’ [bleurghh] in India and women getting surgery!

Classica · 16/10/2021 21:41

The fox eye lift seems to be a real craze too. I think that one looks weird af. But apparently it wears off quite quickly.

I’m not that poster but you don’t need to be beautiful to be able to judge someone’s looks. Same as you don’t need to be a chef to like or dislike a dish.

Chrissy is a model and so her looks are pushed as being attractive. It’s ok to disagree with this.

Bluntness100 · 16/10/2021 21:45

I’m not that poster but you don’t need to be beautiful to be able to judge someone’s look

I think when you’re slagging off someone way way more attractive than you fhen you need to recognise you’re maybe being a twat,

PartyStory · 16/10/2021 21:53

I think when you’re slagging off someone way way more attractive than you fhen you need to recognise you’re maybe being a twat,

I don't think Chrissy looks good either though and I also think she looks odd. That's not twattish nor slagging her off. It's a very mild opinion on someone who works in a looks based field. Runway models often look "odd" and conventionally unattractive as this is more interesting on camera. Chrissy has also spoken about having plastic surgery is can make someone look unnatural.

I don't think a user's looks have anything to do with their opinion. Unattractive people can still have different preferences regarding what they think looks good.

Fwiw, I've been paid for beauty modelling if that makes my opinion more valid...

Bluntness100 · 16/10/2021 21:57

Whether you think chirssy is attractive or not is subjective but calling her looks odd is bitchy and unacceptable especially when the people who do it can only prey to look that good,

Ain’t no one paying you that much to model. Right?

BeenThruMoreThanALilBit · 16/10/2021 21:59

It’s all about a lack of self-esteem for the people who do it. Or, rather, their self-esteem being linked to their looks/image. “If I just had thinner cheeks/ fuller lips/ higher brows/ smoother skin/ a bigger bum/ skinnier thighs, I’d be more [insert adjective - beautiful, marketable, attractive, mainstream-looking, desirable] and then I’d be [insert emotion - happier, self-confident]”.

The industry feeds off men and women who have this deficiency. It’s wicked.

PartyStory · 16/10/2021 22:01

Ain’t no one paying you that much to model. Right?

Because that's not bitchy and unacceptable at all...

ronkey · 16/10/2021 22:04

never even heard of this. isn't the joy of youth having plump cheeks

Bluntness100 · 16/10/2021 22:04

@PartyStory

Ain’t no one paying you that much to model. Right?

But it’s ok to call a beautiful woman odd looking?

@PartyStory

And I assume your defensive answer means no, no one is paying you like that to model, so she beats you hands down, but you think it’s ok to slag her off on line as long as you don’t need to take any of the same?
ronkey · 16/10/2021 22:07

Millennials seemed to suddenly have mass access to cosmetic procedures and constant feeds from social media.

I don't think it's millennials

PartyStory · 16/10/2021 22:12

But it’s ok to call a beautiful woman odd looking?

As I said before, odd doesn't mean she can't be a good model and can in fact be an advantage. Some people prefer conventionally unattractive faces. It's just an opinion and beauty is subjective.

People shouldn't feel they have to accept every "model" pushed down their throats by the media as beautiful, especially ones like Chrissy who are more famous because of their family connections and social media use. Before she met John, Chrissy was a not that well known bikini model. She didn't get the fame she has because of her looks alone.
