Today I found out just how much weight I've gained since March 2020

A few pounds shy of 6 stone Sad

I was hoping it was more like 4.

I am going back as from today to reducing my carbs, cutting out chocolate, biscuits and other nonsense as of today but it feels like such a mountain to climb.

I know I'm being U for whining because I'm the one who gained the weight - basically by eating constantly during the last 19 months of WFH, now of course I wish I'd stopped sooner. Maybe when I"d only gained 3st Blush

At the moment I just feel like such a fat (f)lump...hence the name change.

Be kind to yourself. You’ve addressed it and you’re ready to move forwards. I know it is a lot, but you can do it. Just try slow and steady. Make small adjustments to start with, so it is more achievable. You need to stick with the changes for life. I need to do the same thing. Good luck!

DrWankincense · 13/10/2021 21:12

One step at a time.
You know what to do, don't look at the numbers just get yourself feeling better.

Orangejuicemarathoner · 13/10/2021 21:12

go for it - you can do it xx

Fatflump · 13/10/2021 21:15

I'm annoyed with myself. Pre Covid I had a really good routine established, I used to go to the gym several times a week on my way home from the office, go out for walks every day at lunch, do Parkrun on Saturdays...I honestly don't think without Covid I would have slipped so far.

What's done is done though. I just need to work on getting back to where I was.

I'm in exactly the same boat since having my daughter just over two and a half years ago. I've always been a size 6 to 8. I'm now a (tight fitting) sixteen and due to my chronic illness I can't do a huge majority of exercises because I'd really struggle with pain, and then afterwards would be too exhausted to care forced my daughter for literally days.

It's an uphill struggle, but like a PP said, I'm trying to make little changes at a time. I wish you all the best in your journey. Flowers

Toastandcrumpets · 13/10/2021 21:18

I feel for you. I was big anyway but COVID saw me rocket up to 17 stone. 12 now.

dongke · 13/10/2021 21:19

Meal replacement plan although struggling with it now Sad

HugeAckmansWife · 13/10/2021 21:19

1lb a week loss is very achievable without restrictive dieting or exercise and in one year would be 52lb or almost 4 stone. Make small changes that are sustainable long term. Good luck.

IComeInPeace · 13/10/2021 21:21

It's been tough on most people. I am trying to lose the weight I put on.

I had to go to work (in the office) so I'm not sure why I put on 20lbs. I think because I never went anywhere, never felt ooooh I want to look good in that top at the weekend. I just got home from work and thought give me some of this lockdown and washed it down with wine, crisps and cake.

I'm 2 weeks in to a low carb diet now and it's better than calorie counting because I'm not hungry. Things like tuna and egg fill you up.

galacticpixels · 13/10/2021 21:21

You can only start from where you at! Back in February I realised I'd put on 3 stone since Covid and working from home started. I already had some weight to lose in the first place.

I started eating better and exercising the next day. I didn't lose any weight over the summer months but I did maintain which was important for me. All in all since February I've lost 1.5 stone.

Don't think about the bigger picture - with every half stone you'll feel better. Approaching it that way has helped me!

Lemons1571 · 13/10/2021 21:22

I’ve done meal replacement over the last year. Started at 18 stone 4, now 9 stone ish. It worked because I was mentally mindset ready, and I really really wanted it, I wanted it more than the cookie or the chocolate.

Sparklfairy · 13/10/2021 21:23

@Marvellousmadness bloody hell talking about kicking an upset OP when she's down.

dongke · 13/10/2021 21:24

@Toastandcrumpets that must be hard but good for you getting this far.

dongke · 13/10/2021 21:25

is meal replacement like slimfast?

dongke · 13/10/2021 21:25

well done @Lemons1571

DrSbaitso · 13/10/2021 21:25

I think a lot of people gained weight in lockdown.

It'll come off, you know what to do. Drink shitloads of water, lots of veggie soups and curries and casseroles for the cold nights.

dongke · 13/10/2021 21:26

I gained 3 stone, was stressed & bored so lived on takeaways

LadyTiredWinterBottom2 · 13/10/2021 21:27

Oh my darling. It's OK. It's been a crap time and you dealt with it how you dealt with it. It's done now. Positive thoughts are so much more constructive than negative ones x

Oh no, that shit is unsustainable. It's essentially a very low calorie diet and you might as well just eat a small meal. If you're consuming only 200 calories or so, seems plain daft not to just enjoy it as food.
siucra · 13/10/2021 21:29

Start tomorrow. Three meals a day, two snacks. Protein at every meal. Very, very low carb. Don't eat too much. Don't starve yourself. Fish and green beans for dinner, yogurt and fruit and a few nuts for breakfast, etc. You know what to do. But most of all be nice to yourself. Because you deserve it. And keep going, don't give up, just feed yourself properly. And take it a day at a time. xxx

Bywayofanupdate · 13/10/2021 21:29

I gained just over a stone which is a lot for me as I had always taken really good care of myself 😭 I've lost most of it by giving up booze and therefore the boozy and post boozy munchies

Fatflump · 13/10/2021 21:30

I've been here before. 3 years ago I lost 7 stone.

Food is and always has been my comfort and companion. I'm sad - food cheers me up. Something good happens - food is a reward.

To maintain myself at my pre gain weight I only ate pasta or potatoes at most once weekly, didn't eat any kind of snack foods or drink alcohol and was exercising 5 times a week. I kept like that for nearly a year, but being stuck at home unable to exercise, cooking and eating were one of the few pleasures. And having a treat just this once, becomes just this week, or month, and so on.

You need to break those associations. But I know how hard it is.
