DD(16) busy with studying, training, socialising and work.

DH busy volunteering and has got a new hobby that gets him out of the house.

So I'm spending increasing amounts of time alone. I meet friends for dog walks or coffee.

Interested to hear what people do if they enjoy longish periods of time alone. I expect I will, once it becomes the norm Smile

I can not fill whole weekends by myself doing nothing. Literally, apart from basic making food etc. Because I'm happy in my own company. I do also enjoy doing things, as mentioned on this thread, but I don't see time aline as needing filling, no matter how long. Sometimes I just like to be.

I love time alone. I go for walks (currently in pursuit of blackberries), bike rides, or ride my horse. I drink, smoke, read, write. Sometimes i go to the cinema or to a cafe. I go through intense creative phases where I write, play piano or do art. Or i potter in the garden / stables.

I like to sit in the dark just listening to music and drinking tea, sometimes I don’t listen to the music I just sit alone and content with my own thoughts.
@takenforgrantednana - I know this might sound like a cliché but have you thought about getting a dog? You certainly wouldn't be invisible then. Lots of people of all ages stop to speak when you have a dog.

Please take inspiration from some of the wonderful ideas shared on this thread Flowers
i already have 2! and yes your still invisiable, i take them out and not one person ever speaks to me! it not like they are big horrible looking dogs either but cuties

After having at least one child at home for the last 28 years and husband now WFH I absolutely crave the days when I am literally here on my own with the dog ! Absolute silence and pottering around doing the odd chore, walking the dog and faffing around on my iPad ..bliss .

Get into running OP, even if it's Just a 5 min run at the beginning.
The feeling after is great, it's amazing for stress levels. Effective with keeping weight off

I miss time alone so much, it's been the biggest negative impact of the last 18 months for me.

I have so many hobbies I've barely touched in months.

Problem is now, if I did get a day to myself I wouldn't know what to do first because I've not stopped looking at Pinterest for ideas.

If I'm alone in the evening I will have a few drinks, play on the PlayStation or watch American police chases on Youtube. If alone in the day I've got into horseracing, mainly matched betting for small profits - my logic is if I can make £20 a week, that's an extra grand a year.
