DH nearly knocked woman flying

We were due to travel to Dublin and the security at the airport was ridiculously long - we were not going to make the flight. Once through security we literally sprinted to the gate, once there DH charged at the woman who was just closing the gate, she turned just in time to see him flying towards her and screamed “SHIT!!!” As he crashed into her - he caught her before she fell and breathlessly asked “we were stuck in security!”
She opened the gate back up and called the mini bus thing to come back whilst explaining that the two missing passengers had arrived - and nearly took her out in the process. I was mortified. The bus came back for us and the woman started laughing and said “Jesus, I need a drink”. I apologised profusely and she said it was ok, she just assumed she was being attacked for a minute. She then apologised for swearing (!!)
Once we were on the plane the pilot came on the tannoy apologising for the delay explaining that they had to wait for two late passengers. Everyone looked at us. I have never forgotten it and I do laugh when I think back but Christ, he could’ve been arrested!

Feeling shit today, AIbU to ask for your holiday disaster stories? (Lighthearted!!)

Also - AIbU to laugh about this now - years later - despite how “wrong” it was at the time?

Someone knocked me flying whilst trying to get to our connecting train at Edinburgh Waverley. We were walking pretty fast as we literally had minutes to disembark one train, and quickly see which platform the next one was. some woman came barrelling up behind me dragging a suitcase behind her. She literally took my legs out from under me with her suitcase and I crashed onto the floor. She didn't even apologise she just looked back and said I shouldn't have been in the way. I ended up having to limp onto the train with a twisted ankle and grazed and bruised knees from when I'd landed on the concrete floor. I suffer from arthritis in my knees and hips so I spent the first few days of my holiday in pain. Thankfully for me though at the time I was in my mid twenties. Someone in their eighties would've suffered a lot more damage then I did had it been them instead

That woman was a cunt. I feel furious on your behalf. How dare she do that and blame you?

Why did it take you longer to get through security, than anyone else on the flight?

Maybe they were late. It's not ideal but it happens to the best of us.

@HopingForOurRainbowBaby that kind of happened to me. I left work with my friend one December evening and couldn't find my car. I thought I'd forgotten where I parked it so we split up and she helped me look. She realised before me that it had been stolen but was kind enough to keep up the pretence until the truth dawned on me.

She drove me home. Next morning it had snowed and I had to trudge to work on a train and a bus.

She drove me home that evening too and on the way I thought I saw my car in another car park near the office. It was buried under heavy snow but you could see from the outline that it was a Mini like mine.

She helped me scrape the snow off. Of course it wasn't my Mini. She's such a nice girl. She couldn't give me a lift in the mornings but went out of her way to drive me home every evening until I got another car. We're still friends and the insurance got me a like-for-like replacement Smile

Sounds like you have a real diamond there - we need more friends like that in the workplace Star

Does it matter? It's not really relevant, is it?
limitedperiodonly · 18/10/2021 17:02

@EatSleepRantRepeat I know. She's my oldest friend. It's coming up for 40 years! She had a Mini Metro with a sticker in the window saying: "Powered By Hamsters". Grin

@Wavey123 have you ever heard of a typo? Why are you being a spelling and grammar wanker? Does it make you feel superior? Do you not find it embarrassing?
