pubs would mostly see people on Pepsi in mine

@stitchy

Hospitals would only treat non-gruesome bloodless injuries and illnesses, all surgery would be fucked. All the medical staff would be passing out like useless shites
Grin this made me laugh so much I woke up my partner.
FastFood · 08/10/2021 07:50

Everybody would live in a city, in a small minimalist flat, they would cycle everywhere and TV wouldn't even exist.
But the whole country would be paralysed each time a spider is spotted somewhere.

PieMistee · 08/10/2021 07:55

The world would survive through optimistic chaos. There would be lots of enthusiastic grand plans that would be almost completed but the final admin never signed off.

ImInStealthMode · 08/10/2021 07:59

Everyone would do kind things for others, often to their own detriment. Nobody would be a confident cook though, so restaurants would be terrible.

EmpressWitchDoesntBurn · 08/10/2021 07:59

Everyone would live on their own. There would be no loud phone calls / noisy electronic devices in public because everyone would either have the sound switched off or have it only audible through their earphones.

All shop shelves would be reachable by someone 4ft11.

Everyone would view the whole concept of gender as sexist bollocks & everyone’s favourite song would be the Vagina Anthem.

Although come to think of it, nobody would have kids so the human race wouldn’t last that long…

TrainforSpeed · 08/10/2021 08:02

Nothing would ever get done.

I mean I function well enough day to day and I have a decent job that I do well enough, but I am in constant awe of those people who really make a difference. Inventions, social change, scientific discoveries, great projects etc

lazylinguist · 08/10/2021 08:03

There might be an improvement in international understanding andcooperation, as everyone would speak lots of languages. People would spend their free time knitting. Everywhere would look quite boring but calm, as there would be a distinct lack of bright colours and lots of neutrals Grin.

GTAlogic · 08/10/2021 08:05

Nothing would ever get done and no-one would eat any proper meals.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 08/10/2021 08:18

Everyone would work from home with as many internet connected devices as possible.
Crumpet sales would sky rocket.

EmpressWitchDoesntBurn · 08/10/2021 09:33

Also, come to think of it, nobody would watch TV or even have a TV licence. Or smoke, or support any sports teams. So that would be a lot of companies going bankrupt overnight.

hangrylady · 08/10/2021 09:43

Everyone would just crack on with what needed doing with the occasional emotional outburst. There would be a lot of eye rolling and muttering fuck off under their breath.

MistyGreenAndBlue · 08/10/2021 09:48

The patriarchy would fall immediately.

HarrietsChariot · 08/10/2021 09:51

It's hard because if EVERYONE were like any given individual, the world would grind to a halt. There'd be no doctors or firefighters because I am not skilled in those jobs. I instinctively would say we'd bring back public executions, but of course we wouldn't need to, because I'm not a criminal therefore nobody else would be. Same with handguns, we'd have them but there would be no need to have them. I'd say climate change would become more rapid because of increased emmissions, but there would be nobody working the power stations or drilling for oil because, like me, they don't fancy that.

readingismycardio · 08/10/2021 10:00

Nobody would EVER be late
Everybody who wants (and the job is permitting ofc) could wfh
We'd only work 3 days a week (max)
Everything would be tidy & organised

Ohhhhh and I loved this @Blondiney Diet Coke would be on tap in every home. definitely this

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 08/10/2021 10:04

Everyone would read a lot, all the time, even when they're supposed to be working, and then blitz things extremely quickly at the last minute to get everything done. The world would be a lot messier. There would be a lot of focus on clothes and fashion, polyester would be banned and all clothes would have pockets.

WellLarDeDar · 08/10/2021 10:09

There would be no animal shelters because we would have adopted all the furbabies.

romdowa · 08/10/2021 10:11

Shit would get done, people would be on time and things would be far more efficient but the world would also be quite a cranky place 🤣🤣

ChurchofLatterDayPaints · 08/10/2021 10:19

Every dog owner would use poo bags on every walk, have a dog licence and apologise to their neighbours if their pet was a PITA.

People would stop driving and parking like arseholes and would eventually stop driving altogether.

God, yes - nobody would drive, everyone would walk or use public transport. Except then there would be nobody to drive the transport…

This is sounding increasingly dystopian. There might even be scope for a novel in it Grin

SadSongsAndWaltzes · 08/10/2021 11:36

I'm loving the mix between "ruthlessly efficient and shit would get done", and "everyone would be lovely to each other witth big, glorious dreams but no action".
I'm thinking the population of mumsnet would make a great society between us Grin

lockdownmadnessdotcom · 08/10/2021 12:10

There would be no SUVs, no net curtains, no garden bonfires, very strict rules on noise pollution and dogs would be on short leads in public (though if everyone was like me they wouldn't have a dog to start with).

I agree with the pp who said nothing would get done because of spending too much time on MN/screens generally. And there wouldn't be compost bins, I hate opening up a bin and all those horrible flies come up at me. Also DH said the last time he put stuff in ours there was a mouse sitting on the top looking at him!

Blendabrethin · 08/10/2021 12:15

People would stay put of each others business. On the one hand, people would be free to live their lives without judgement but on the other hand everyone woyld be terribly aloof and socially awkward. There would be no war or violence. Everything would be pretty quiet and calm because I can't deal with noise or flashing lights. However, things would likely get quite messy and dirty as I am a bit domestivally challenged. People would wear pyjamas, underwear or nothing at all. Definitely no bras! Everyone would be able to sleep 12 hours a day and sit down and eat 3 hot meals daily. Seriously, eating and sleeping would be sacred!

People would walk pretty much everywhere, everyone would be quite well read. I"m not sure monogamy would exist - it's not a state that comes naturally to me and I'm not entirely sure the nenefits outweigh the negatives. There would be a lot of one night stands and sexual preferences would be very fluid.

Concepts like morality, duty and tradition would probably go out of the window. I'm pretty practical and logically minded, so I like to think society would work on principles of what works/has the most benefit.

Nothing would be particularly well organised because I really struggle with keeping track of dates and times or sticking to a schedule. On the other hand, this would create a society of people who were flexoble, laid back and good at thinking on their feet and problem solving.

Nobody would ever be told that they are too quiet, or need to come out of their shell more. Group work and group think would be banned.

Beige would cease to exist.

mikedyson · 08/10/2021 12:17

@BruceAndNosh

Fuck all would get done, as Society would be spending all day on MN
Yep
stillcrazyafterall · 08/10/2021 12:18

Everything would be fair, no one would break the law and breweries would go bust. But that's ok because the workers would all work for bakeries and chocolate manufacturers.

Blendabrethin · 08/10/2021 12:19

Also, I would actually hate to live in a world full of people like me. I need people who are different to me to balance out the shit I'm crap at and to add interest. Who would I learn from if I never met anyone who was different? How would I learn to be less self absorbed?
