pubs would mostly see people on Pepsi in mine

We would get things done in an orderly fashion with no moaning or whinging. People would be on time and prepared for classes and work. Nothing would be very noisy and everyone would drive sensibly.

Christ knows what we’d do for doctors. I wouldn’t trust me to fix me.

TomPinch · 08/10/2021 02:38

Nothing would ever get fixed.

Gilmoregale · 08/10/2021 02:40

Money and possessions would cease to be used as a method of valuing others and instead people would be valued for their actual skills and contribution to society. Also cats would be revered.

MintJulia · 08/10/2021 02:50

There would be no dv, no bullying, no road rage, no Love Island, no porn. Collective blood pressure would be much lower.

More music, more colour, more art, more books. Definitely more lie-ins. Less noise, fewer cars, less 'stuff'. Smile

"Also the average IQ would be way higher, and that cannot be a bad thing given the very many tedious interactions I have with the public every day."

"Wouldn’t the average IQ still be 100?"

Grey paint would never be made, or sold again in stores.

madisonbridges · 08/10/2021 03:24

There'd be no litter. Or spitting. People would queue - and that includes oaps in the post office.

theDudesmummy · 08/10/2021 03:31

Everything would be very organised and timetabled but all desks would be extremely untidy. There would be no surgery as the doctors would not like the sight of blood. There would be no such thing as horror movies, and everyone would have a buckwheat pillow. People would re-read their favourite children's books regularly. It would be compulsory to sleep with the window open.

Pedalpushers · 08/10/2021 03:35

Ugh. Bunch of insufferable type a personalities. Everything would be done on time but everyone would have anxiety.

theDudesmummy · 08/10/2021 03:48

Oh, and no-one who can actually walk would stand still on those moving walkways at airports they are not there for you to not have to use your bloody legs, they are there so you get there faster

WeDidntMeanToGoToSea · 08/10/2021 06:13

Tax fiddling and fraud would disappear overnight, making the country much richer (apart from the lack of speeding fine revenue). Unfortunately, so would sporting prowess, making it much unhealthier. That in turn would be balanced out by the cessation of meat eating, smoking and the drinking of all alcohol except wine.

The country's roads and buildings would be in a dreadful state of disrepair, and a new industry of 'pop-up guides' would spring up because everyone would be getting lost all the time, even with Google Maps. Everyone would be very well educated (in theory) and at least bilingual, though.

Politicians would be scrupulously honest and great at making tough decisions but would burn out regularly with the anxiety of it all. In fact, we would have to have a system of conscription to government because nobody would want to do it.

Chocaholic9 · 08/10/2021 06:59

We would not get up until noon. Everyone would be a little bit neurotic but extremely conscientious.

SpeckyWithTheGoodHair · 08/10/2021 07:03

Everyone would be immaculately organised but rather bossy

No one would have any time for bullshit, and be adverse to speaking it

TroysMammy · 08/10/2021 07:09

Everyone would spend their day, making cards, chutney, gardening, making bread, sausages and generally fannying about.

Youdoyoutoday · 08/10/2021 07:22

Everyone would have common sense, there would be no crime or homelessness, tv adverts wouldn't exist. Footballers and film stars would not be paid stupid money and the kartrashians wouldn't exist!

TabithaTiger · 08/10/2021 07:22

Everyone would be vegan so I think the climate change situation would improve. Financially we'd be screwed though as I'm terrible at managing a budget. I'd need to find a good chancellor to manage that!

Bloodymess · 08/10/2021 07:28

Bad Everyone would travel by public transport and less socialising, but be resentful as not as a choice due to disability. Worried about other people’s opinion.

Good - organised, on time no crime, polite, happily single, in jobs they enjoy

apalledandshocked · 08/10/2021 07:31

An end to all wars. But lots of passive aggressiveness.

PersonaNonGarter · 08/10/2021 07:31

All the pictures in all the galleries would be a bit shit.

singlemama91 · 08/10/2021 07:32

There would be no men! Grin

AttaGirrrrl · 08/10/2021 07:34

We’d have lots of good ideas, and lists, and piles of things that were going to get done. Sometimes the piles would move from one room to another. Unfortunately, very few of these ideas would actually happen.

Soyouthought · 08/10/2021 07:35

It would be untidy but absolutely no littering and a lot less food packaging because we just wouldn’t buy it. Probably a gin shortage though

MacMahon · 08/10/2021 07:35

Some people seem to think this thread is called, "If I ruled the world" rather than its actual title Confused

We wouldn’t start work til 11am. We’d finish at 3. And we’d only do a three day week (but earn a full salary) That's great for you, congratulations, but sounds a bit smug.

Cattenberg · 08/10/2021 07:39

Everyone would be vegetarian/vegan and animals would live in luxury.

All technological progress would grind to a halt.

Everyone would stay up late and get up late.

Not a lot would get done, to be honest.

ArblemarchTFruitbat · 08/10/2021 07:42

There'd be no more crime, violence or war - yay! The security industry would collapse because no one would think of stealing anything.

No cars or lorries on the roads, no flights.

Sports industry drastically reduced - no football.

No subscription TV services any more.

No Facebook, instagram etc - just forums like this one and Reddit etc.

No gyms - everyone would get their exercise outdoors.

The pet industry would enjoy a boom as everyone started acquiring cats and dogs.
