PCR tests in Liverpool for people travelling into John Lennon Airport.

stonebrambleboy · 04/10/2021 13:38

Sorry posting for traffic can't find the answer on the Mumsnet Covid board or government site either ( really confusing).
If someone is travelling from Hungary to Liverpool Airport next week and are fully vaccinated, my understanding is they have to have a PCR test on Day 2.
Where is the nearest provider in Liverpool City to get this done?

Is there a testing station in the airport? You can do it on arrival if so.

MyDcAreMarvel · 04/10/2021 13:45

There is a testing area in the airport car park.

stonebrambleboy · 04/10/2021 14:03

Thank you 😁

If you go to the carpark though make sure you drive up to the private testing area , not the government symptom test area. They are right next to each other and are accessed by the side road to the left of the airport, not the side where you park your car or hire one.

They will need to order and pay for a Day2 test in advance as they will need to put the code on the passenger location form. The test can be delivered to a UK address.

If they don't have a completed PLF which includes the code that confirms they have ordered and paid for a test then they won't be allowed to board the plane.

Thank you for clarifying, most helpful.

Not if you need to do it on day 2 surely?
Janek · 04/10/2021 17:28

You can do it on or before day 2.

vajingleberry · 04/10/2021 17:28

You can actually do your day 2 tests any time up to day 2 but it has to be one that you have ordered and paid for in advance to get the code for your passenger locator form. The airport ones are not acceptable.

FWIW, nobody checks that you have done the test, many of them don't even turn up in the first place but there is no way you can get on a plane to the UK without having paid for one in advance. Best to just go with the cheapest option.

stonebrambleboy · 04/10/2021 17:29

Apparently it can be Day 2 'or before' according to the Gov't information.
That's why I was confused.

The private testing at the airport is by a company called TAG, like others have said you turn into the same place as the NHS testing so be sure to stay left and turn onto the private testing area.

TwoBlueFish · 04/10/2021 17:34

You can order one to do at home from companies such as Randox

Soozikinzi · 04/10/2021 17:34

As long as you've got the booking number for the PCR test that's what you need for the passenger locator form your test can be done at your home address and posted or randox you do the test then drop it at drop off points I think boots do that as well . We came back from Croatia and had to do this . As long as it's a test that's on the government list - we got our from randox because they were the cheapest .

Bouncealot · 04/10/2021 17:34

We ordered the Randox ones as recommended on govt website. Unfortunately can’t put them in post and had to drive 25 miles to nearest drop off point. Great waste of petrol.

Janek · 04/10/2021 17:42

We used nationwide, they were £40 and you can use a postbox.

But you can't just rock up and use this as your day 2 test.

You need a code for your PLF and you aren't getting on a plane/ferry without one.

It’s mostly for testing before departure not day 2 testing on arrival which is what the OP needs.

OP you don’t actually have to do the test. Just show that you have it booked and paid for before entering the UK.

stonebrambleboy · 05/10/2021 21:22

Frazzled2207 surely you can get into a lot of trouble if you don't do the test?

there is literally no enforcement. I know at least 3 people who booked and paid for it to be sent to their homes but never actually did it.

But there isn't actually a rule that you have to do it. You just can't fly into the country without proof that you have booked one.

Sirzy · 05/10/2021 21:26

We ordered home tests from chrometics and all worked well

Frazzled2207 · 05/10/2021 21:27

oh and even if you did have to do the test, there is literally no way of proving that it was you that actually did it! So a family could take all swabs from one person for example.

stonebrambleboy · 05/10/2021 21:32

Thanks Frazzled that's a good point!

Liverpool and JL airport are in England. Gov.uk gives all the up to date advice on testing when travelling from abroad to England/Wales/N. Ireland/Scotland.
If on the Green list you need to order a test for Day 2 BEFORE you fly and enter the details on the Passenger Locator Form. Check everything on gov.uk instead of social media in case of last minute changes.

vajingleberry · 06/10/2021 12:15

@stonebrambleboy

Frazzled2207 surely you can get into a lot of trouble if you don't do the test?
No, no you absolutely can't get into trouble.

Who would you get into trouble with? There is no "list" of who has ordered the test and nobody ticking off names and addresses.

As a pp has mentioned, you do the test at home and post it off. Nobody knows whose nose you stick the swab up.

Lots of the pre-paid tests never even arrive in the first place or the results never arrive. Many people have successfully claimed refunds.

You are forced to pay for the test even if you are only entering the UK for a short time and will be back home before they arrive.

It is nothing more than a money-making exercise.

stonebrambleboy · 06/10/2021 21:49

Yes I see what you mean. No doubt some one is making a lot of money out of this.
