Fuel how long will it last?

What's everyone's guesses on how long this will last my area seems to be fine now but daily mail is painting a terrible picture makes me feel very uneasy ... what's everyone's thoughts when it will ease?

I'm not sure I'd trust the daily mail if they were reporting the sky was blue.

This.

It’s like gear frenzy, at least this has slowed their frenzy of putting the fear of god into everyone over covid.

Siriisatwat · 03/10/2021 14:27

*fear

MiddleClassProblem · 03/10/2021 14:28

Why do you read The Daily Mail? Confused

Teeturtle · 03/10/2021 14:30

No idea really. Hopefully all over in a month? Still huge problems in my area.

Ponoka7 · 03/10/2021 14:33

Lots of sectors want staff, temporary, fast visas are needed. This isn't going to be popular with the Brexit-to-cut-immigration crowd, so several crisis situations will have to be created.

Wazzzzzzzup · 03/10/2021 14:37

I see pretending that no one reads DailyMail already started 😂

It's localised issue more than everywhere and ALL newspapers are guilty of making it seem bigger and causing all this.

Just an fyi, it's now quite bit of a joke abroad.

If your area is ok op, don't stress.

idiotfacelicker · 03/10/2021 14:42

I'm in SE. I don't see an end in sight. It's worse than ever. I'm
Now starting to get worried about appointments I have in a week or twos time. What I have now will be long gone by then and not confident how easy filling up will be over the next week.

Comedycook · 03/10/2021 14:45

Does it matter?!

Even without reading any newspapers I can clearly see there's a problem with fuel. Most petrol stations near me are shut. When they do get fuel, the queues are unbelievable and the petrol runs out after a few hours

I thought it would be fine by now so had held off on filling up but had no choice today so queued up and was lucky to get some.

It's beyond ridiculous. I'm amazed the public aren't more angry

gamerchick · 03/10/2021 14:47

Our local paper is doing a big push on electric cars. Hmm

idiotfacelicker · 03/10/2021 14:48

They're too busy turning on eachother to blame the real culprits! On facebook and Twitters it full of people telling others off for talking about it, as if keeping quiet about it will magically fill the pumps!

GivenUpEntirely · 03/10/2021 14:58

Frankly I'm amazed it's still a problem in parts of the UK. No queues or closed stations here since at least Tuesday but the media are still trying to make a big drama out of it 🙄

Biker47 · 03/10/2021 15:11

Media ironically fuelling it. The same number of people delivering fuel 2 weeks ago, are still delivering it today, there weren't any mass shortages 2 weeks ago, almost back to normal up here.

It's awful here in SE London

That's because it is a big drama in SE. Not everywhere is the same. No petrol stations even open for days here.

tiddlysquat · 03/10/2021 15:18

Yep still absolute nightmare here ! (South east)

idiotfacelicker · 03/10/2021 15:28

Because forcourts have been closed for so long even a standard numbers of deliveries won't deal with the problem (and we're not getting that). I don't see how the problem eases at all without a massive supply boost to the SE and they will never do that. I'm seriously concerned.

Newrumpus · 03/10/2021 15:32

Is there more panic in the SE than elsewhere? If the situation has stabilised elsewhere why hasn’t it stabilised there? I know more fuel is probably sold there than elsewhere but presumably there have been proportionally more re-fills there too. Unless that is not the case, of course.

Yeah, we're all a bunch of panicking fools in the SE that must be it 🙄

So because your area is ok then nowhere else can be having a different experience?! The closest petrol stations to me have been closed for days at a time and even today most are still shut. Very much still an issue here I can assure you!
Grenlei · 03/10/2021 15:40

I'm getting quite concerned about it.

I was away last weekend and it was a struggle there too and limited to £30. That got me home, one journey to work and a trip to the supermarket but now I'm on red. There's no diesel anywhere round here and as soon as any is delivered it sells out immediately. No idea when or even how I can fill up, and having so little now I can't drive round for hours in the hunt for somewhere with fuel.

I’m in a commuter town in the SE. A large number of residents work in London and drive 100+ miles daily, just to work. It’s still a big problem here with queues and closed forecourts.
HannibalHayeski · 03/10/2021 15:44

That's simply not enough. All the people who went home because they were told they weren't welcome aren't coming back any time soon just because Priti Ghastly offers them a temporary visa.

I can't see a solution short of rejoining the SM and CU, and bringing back FoM. Even that might not be enough, if workers are still made to feel unwelcome and second class citizens. Of course the xenophobes who voted for Brexshit in the first place won't want that anyway, but, frankly, we shouldn't be pandering to xenophobes and racists in the first place.

idiotfacelicker · 03/10/2021 15:47

Single market would definitely help some. Why Labour is ruling it out God only knows.

30tanned · 03/10/2021 15:49

Do we think the army being deployed as of tomorrow will help much? Didn't realise just how bad it was in SE it's so worrying!
