Does anyone else just hate that time of the month?! Any top tips on what makes you feel better?!

Boots straight to skin heat patches get me through work when my cramp is bad. I'm a secondary school teacher and I've told SO MANY of my females pupils about them.

Rainydays55 · 02/10/2021 20:16

That’s a great tip, not even thought about that, thank you!

Solitude

fellrunner85 · 02/10/2021 20:19

Running. It eases the pain, gives me more energy, and also provides a welcome distraction.

Meredusoleil · 02/10/2021 20:19

Staying in bed!

Stargazingharbor · 02/10/2021 20:20

A huge bar of Galaxy 😉

Larryyourwaiter · 02/10/2021 20:20

Everyone leaving me the fuck alone. Being warm and still.

burritofan · 02/10/2021 20:26

Migraleve and everyone fucking off for being so fucking fuck-offy

BakingOfTheFoodCats · 02/10/2021 20:27

Nothing 😑

Yoga. Adriene has a yoga for period cramps video that is the only thing that eases them for me sometimes.

Knowing more about my period and what the cycle is doing to my body has weirdly improved my symptoms. Maybe cos i have less mental resistance as im aware that something quite amazing and actually good for my long term health is happening. Dr Lara Briden is great on this.

MilduraS · 02/10/2021 20:32

When I'm just a bit crampy then a long walk always helps. I also do some yoga using videos on YouTube.

If it's bad, snuggling up on the couch with a hot water bottle. Sometimes accompanied by hot chocolate, other times a few glasses of wine. When i feel really crap, DH will make a tartiflette (cheesy potato dish) for dinner while I stay snuggled up. It's my ultimate comfort food but so high in calories that I only eat it when I need proper comfort.

LagneyandCasey · 02/10/2021 20:33

Carbs!

Spikeyplants · 02/10/2021 20:35

OP- Do you mean you have cramps, pain or just feel blah? If your pain is very bad- what investigations have you had done? When younger, I used to have an ibuprofen on the 1st day of my period, but don't seem to need this now. Hot water bottle can help, but if the pain is bad, definitely get it look at- could be endo.

Pinkchocolate · 02/10/2021 20:36

For a really heavy, painful period hot baths, a hot water bottle, chocolate and my duvet. Oh and hugs when I want them but don’t talk to me or look at me any other time unless it’s to offer any of the above.
On a normal month I just need extra sugar and exercise. I generally hate exercise but it helps my pains if they’re mild.

OnTheBenchOfDoom · 02/10/2021 20:41

I have endo so TENs machine as it does feel like I am in some stage of labour every month, plug in heat pad which is absolutely amazing, no weight to it, no cooling down. Obviously not used at the same time. Also a lazy spa which is a ridiculously luxury item but my god it feels amazing, unlike a bath there is room to move around. It feels like a birthing pool. To be fair we use this a lot anyway, it just really helps with period pain too.

Migraleve is good, low dose codeine and anti-sickness as I can feel nauseous. I am also trying cbd tampons by Daye, not sure if they are doing much but I will try anything.

Rebelmcstreettuff · 02/10/2021 20:44

I have been in agony for 2 days...real bad cramps and shooting pains.
I am on the pill so take it continually so don't usually have periods.
Wanted to check if I was still ovulating as have been having menopausal symptoms.
OMG feel like a mule is constantly kicking me.
Ibuprofen and hot water bottle my only relief Angry

Redjimjams · 02/10/2021 20:46

Paracetamol and exercise.

Owlshouse · 02/10/2021 20:48

Extra sleep and everyone leaving me alone unless it is to bring one or more of the following items - chocolate, doughnuts, cookies, full sugar fizzy pop, ice cream etc

TheVolturi · 02/10/2021 20:51

Buscopan for the cramps. And ibuprofen. Ibuprofen can lighten the flow too.

JesusIsAnyNameFree · 02/10/2021 20:52

Exercise takes away the pain. If only I could go on long hikes without needing the bloody (literallyConfused) bathroom every 15 mins.

RobertaFirmino · 02/10/2021 20:58

Ibu and two hot water bottles. One round the front and the other either at the back or between the legs. Peace and quiet too.

Blackkoala · 02/10/2021 21:00

Ibuprofen, mefanamic acid and a very hot hot water bottle.

LukeEvansWife · 02/10/2021 21:01

Am menopausal now but what helped the most was painkillers and also a diazepam at night (not available to everyone obvs, but I take them occasionally for anxiety

vincettenoir · 02/10/2021 21:01

Walking, hot water bottles, steering clear of rich food (apart from chocolate), keeping alcohol to a minimum and naproxen.

Sparklingwine1 · 02/10/2021 21:01

Chocolate, lots of cuddles with my dog and DH and strong pain killers. The first day of my period is excruciating but then it's fine after that. Oh and also lots of extra sleep! I get so much more tired when I'm on.
