Would you get the vaccine if you were TTC?

Do you feel confident enough in the covid vaccines (any or all varieties) that you would take it if you were trying for a baby? A close family member is unsure and has come to me for advice but it's tricky to know what can/can't be trusted when looking online.

YABU- Yes I would
YANBU- No I wouldn't

Any links or advice would be very welcome. Please remember that not everyone is an expert, some of us have to rely on the information available to us and trying to find reliable sources is difficult when there's so much out there

Wow so many people sharing that they've had it and fallen pregnant! This is much welcomed and very reassuring news, thank you

Fingers crossed for you @blueskyinjan. We had been trying for 3 years when I got pregnant with our first 🤞

Shelddd · 30/09/2021 20:15

I would while TTC but not while pregnant as risk to baby is unknown (don't say otherwise, we won't know for another 2-3 years when most neurological conditions will start getting diagnosed in the babies or not if it's safe)

It’s really not. You can go to the nhs guidance as a start. Unless you think randoms on the internet know better?

But since you asked, yes I would get the vaccine because the evidence is mounting that pregnant women are at higher risk if they catch covid.

Has NHS advice ever been wrong before? Or is infallible? As you seem to suggest.

As I said, I’d trust it more than randoms on the internet, particularly as it’s not just the nhs giving that advice but the US health authorities, plus many others.

Took the vaccine and currently TTC. Currently on my first cycle or TTC and I'm not worried that I've been vaccinated.

Best of luck with your TTC. It's good to hear that people aren't hesitant, she's sadly seen some horror stories that could have been made up by anti-vaxxers and isn't sure what to believe especially when it's not just her it's affecting.

I did but I waited until I was actually on my period to have it.

HeyFloof · 30/09/2021 20:28

Had my first jab at 7 whilst pregnant (but with an unviable pregnancy, it had never developed past 5 weeks.

Had my second jab a month later. Did nothing to effect my cycle, if anything it made it more normal.

Cycle after that and I conceived again. Only 6 weeks so far but any issues with an embryo would be because of me not because of a vaccine.

WantStickyBean · 30/09/2021 20:30

Yes, had both doses of the vaccine and fell pregnant a couple of months later. Now 8 weeks.

LAgeDeRaisin · 30/09/2021 20:35

I'm a doctor and got the first just as we started TTC and the second at about 12 weeks. Baby due next Monday.

Any concerns I'm sure a GP would be happy to discuss them

Rockieroad · 30/09/2021 20:38

Second jab on the 7th August. 6 weeks today

Rainbowqueeen · 30/09/2021 20:40

All the horror stories I have seen are about women who catch covid while pregnant and then die without seeing their baby or where both mother and baby die. Being pregnant is a huge risk factor for covid and means you are much more likely to have worse symptoms. https Bnb://www.pregnancybirthbaby.org.au/amp/article/coronavirus-covid-19-and-

On my phone so not sure if those links worked. If you look at the CDC website (the American authority on health care in the USA) they have just released an urgent guidance for pregnant women to get vaccinated due to high death rates in pregnant women.

iguanadonna · 30/09/2021 20:40

Heavens yes. I had covid twice and it was awful. Took months to get better. Really don't want it when pregnant or looking after baby/toddler.

dutchessmom · 30/09/2021 20:44

DH and I, both had our jabs, and we can proceed without any problems to IVF.

salviapages · 30/09/2021 20:44

I'm TTC and I got the vaccine

Kiwi09 · 30/09/2021 20:53

“No evidence” is just how researchers phrase things and not something to be concerned about.

Getting vaccinated while pregnant has also been shown to provide protection to the baby. www.healthline.com/health-news/getting-vaccinated-while-pregnant-can-help-pass-on-antibodies-to-newborns

JuicyPie · 30/09/2021 20:55

Yes I did and currently 21 weeks. Planning to get my booster ASAP

Lovebug06 · 30/09/2021 20:58

I didn't have the vaccine at first due to TTC as it was said not to at the time. After advice changed I wanted to get it but was told no when I tried to book!
I then got it after a while and all is fine. I am 11 weeks pregnant and I think I had the 2nd vaccine around 8dpo. I actually thought I was late on due to the vaccine.
Ive seen all good things and nothing bad about those ttc and pregnant who have had the vaccine so at first I had a little panic but I feel fine about it now.

DoodleBelle · 30/09/2021 21:01

I did and I’m 20 weeks pregnant

Saoirse82 · 30/09/2021 21:04

@blueskyinjan

I got it. We’ve already been trying for three years so if anything it might help my situation Grin
It helped mine! I received the vaccine on the wed, ovulated on the sun or Monday and a positive pregnancy test 16 days after getting my first AZ dose. I'd been off the for 7.5 years and not one bfp, miscarriage in 2016 after ivf and nothing since then. And I'm 38 so this was a miracle pregnancy. Had my 2nd dose when I was 16 weeks pregnant. Im now 33 weeks.
TheDuchessOfMN · 30/09/2021 21:05

I wouldn’t even consider trying to become pregnant without it

Spyro1234 · 30/09/2021 21:32

I'm double jabbed and now pregnant. Just get the jab

DappledOliveGroves · 30/09/2021 21:35

Had my second jab and conceived 12 days later. Now 19 weeks pregnant.
