Tooth fairy no cash...

Aaarrghhh I've got 30p or £10 and I've got a child who's 10 and so doesn't really believe but makes pointed comments, 'I wonder if the tooth fairy would come since we've moved house' and he twice didn't tell me and put his tooth under his pillow and I'd overheard him saying to his siblings that he'd get no money as the tooth fairy wasn't real- he did and was wowed...

Anyway- what to do tonight please?!! GrinHmm

OP posts:

Any chance it's too far under his pillow and she was scared she'd get squashed so will pop back tomorrow if he'd like to leave it downstairs/on his bedside table?

Aimee1987 · 28/09/2021 22:42

Happened to is with Dss but in our case he was 7 and did believe. Plus this was only the second tooth he lost so still very excited. DP made a dash to co OP to get some cashback for him.

PieonaBarm · 28/09/2021 22:42

@mogtheexcellent

Ive been recycling the same £2 coin taken from DDs piggy bank since the start of the pandemic.

Not feeling guilty at all.

My Mum did this to me for years as a kid and then told me when I was in my 20's. I found it hilarious and exactly the kind of thing that I'd do!
DoNotGetADog · 28/09/2021 22:42

Do you have any small gifts somewhere you could leave instead of money? I sometimes leave a book or a Lego minifigure or small toy.

RandomWordGenerator · 28/09/2021 22:43

If he keeps his teeth super clean then just give him the £10 as a one off. Maybe your old fairy came to the U.K. and there was a minimum on the currency exchange.

ohnotanotherusername · 28/09/2021 22:44

Tooth fairy is in isolation, should be back in 10 days.

We are on day 6 of that excuse here.

StarryStarrySocks · 28/09/2021 22:45

She can't come tonight - she's hurt her wings so can't fly and normally in that situation she'd jump into her tooth collecting wagon but y'know, no petrol...

AngelinaJoliestoplip · 28/09/2021 22:45

Can you put any Euros or foreign currency you have lying around under his pillow instead, with a note saying she was in X country last night and didn’t get a chance to collect British currency??

swimchick1980 · 28/09/2021 22:46

The tooth fairy could say they were light on change so have left £10 but coming back for change tomorrow!

Hankunamatata · 28/09/2021 22:46

The tooth fairy is super forgetful on our house and can go up to 3 days before collecting the teeth Blush

AngelinaJoliestoplip · 28/09/2021 22:47

Or even a note to say once a child gets to 10, they get a ‘token’ instead of cash. And they have to present that ‘token’ to the parent who ‘cashes’ it in. So the token can be for an ice cream after school, a new book, whatever you deem a treat. And start a new tradition in your home??

Hankunamatata · 28/09/2021 22:48

And if recently given up and told our 10 year old the tooth fairy is really mum

Suasthuasanuas · 28/09/2021 22:48

My eldest recently informed me tongue in cheek that the tooth fairy had recently partnered with Revolut. He had a backlog of about 5 teeth that had accumulated over lockdown. He’s 12 now and the comment really made me laugh. His junior card was duly topped up.

notapizzaeater · 28/09/2021 22:54

My son knows the tooth fairy is really really busy so might take a couple of days to get round everybody

TheChip · 28/09/2021 22:55

I was the worst TF. Many times I'd remember before waking then that I had forgot, so I'd quickly grab the tooth and then wake them. As soon as I spotted the hand going under the pillow, I'd say "chop chop. We have to get moving for school. I'm off to make your breakfast because I need to do x" (whatever I could make up on the spot.
When asked, I'd be like "oh I don't know. We will look properly after breakfast" before you know it, we no longer have time and I have to do a good search when they're at school. My searching skills are amazing, because I always found a quid.
I'd sometimes tell them that the TF likes you to have to find the pound too. I've thrown one under the bed while we have been searching before Grin

isitjustlockdown · 28/09/2021 22:58

She can't get to a cash machine due to petrol issues, so has transferred it to mum or dads bank.

Fedup2908 · 28/09/2021 23:00

Am not gonna lie. At 10 they know the tooth fairy isn't real . I have left a note saying tooth fairy's skint because all the kids have been neglecting there teeth.... I o u £1 tomorrow when the head tooth

Fedup2908 · 28/09/2021 23:00

Fairy pays my wages Grin

I am up there with the worst of the bad parents!!

Spikeyplants · 28/09/2021 23:00
  • rummage through winter coats, shorts, handbags, backpacks and anything with a pocket
  • rummage through the car. In the foot wells and under the seats
  • rummage down the back of all the sofas and underneath too
Fridafever · 28/09/2021 23:05

We had this last week - I took it from his piggy bank!

Madcats · 28/09/2021 23:07

Just tell him that the tooth fairy is queuing for petrol/diesel, so is prioritising U7's.

Toddlerteaplease · 28/09/2021 23:09

If we lost a tooth after 8pm, we had to wait until the next night. As the tooth fairy was already out on her rounds.
Had us going for years!

Toddlerteaplease · 28/09/2021 23:10

@XenoBitch

I only ever got 20p, but that was in the 80s!
Me too.
martingrowler · 28/09/2021 23:12

Ours once left a euro by mistake then came back the next day having realised her error.

Any foreign coins knocking about?

Pottedpalm · 28/09/2021 23:15

An IOU. In purple felt pen and curly girly fairy writing. And glitter.
