Three months of the same car alarm going off

Timeforabiscuit · 27/09/2021 20:35

It's been three long months of a shitty neighbour not getting their car alarm fixed but parking it away from their own house and moving into a different spot every few days moving onto a new street.

The owner knows what's happening, he's been left notes, politely asked even at 4am, now we have a newer neighbours who have threatened to punch their lights out if the car is even seen in the street again.

The car is back, and it's already gone off this evening,it's directly outside my house, meaning I can look forward to it going off at least twice more at stupid o'clock in the morning.

Aibu to smear vaseline under the door handles? Or is there a better way???

@MenaiMna you little genius! Stickers!!

We've been plagued by 5g, new world order, fovid stickering campaign locally - this could easily be turned into a counter protest piece Grin

Assuming hes parking where he isn't disturbed, I'd find out where he lives and each and every time it goes off bang on his door until he's awake as well.
Stickers and vaseline etc are all well and good but will prevent him from moving it which is a bit counterproductive really. If the alarm is fault disconnecting it isn't tricky.

ffsgivemestrength · 27/09/2021 22:58

Do they know why it's going off? My sister had a problem with her alarm randomly going off at all times of day and night... 3 trips to garage couldn't resolve the issue.. turned out the key need a new battery! Something about the battery being on its way out was messing with the car. Maybe suggest they get new batteries for the keys... don't forget the spare key too.

Theunamedcat · 27/09/2021 23:06

Make the sticker say TAKE THE FUCKING FUSE OUT YOU TWAT

Theunamedcat · 27/09/2021 23:08

Honestly my neighbours who know FUCK ALL about cars had an issue with there car going off all day and all night night one saw the husband sitting up keeping an eye on the unlocked car while his wife googled where the fuse was they pulled the fuse end of issue we all went to sleep

Report to the Local Authority Noise Team (Environmental Health). Thanks to a decade of Tory cuts they may not be able to do anything but at least it will go on the statistics and people may realise that they don't know what they had till it was gone.

This.

Find out where he lives and summon him. Every single time it goes off.

A very LARGE note, pasted onto the windscreen on the driver's side with copious amounts of glue which sets and then doesn't come off glass is a good idea....I have tried it in the past with repeat parking offenders, it does work....

Timeforabiscuit · 28/09/2021 08:38

Another neighbour beat me to the punch last night with another note, and owner drives off at around 7am (didn't quite manage to catch him!)

If he's true to form he'll park up again tonight before moving on.

Is it a Ford? Well known for older Fords to have alarm issues. Mine goes off intermittently but because of that the garage can't/won't fix the problem. It's been good touch wood for months now but there was a period where I had to leave it unlocked and hope cos I didn't want to piss off the neighbours. Seemed to be set off by hot weather,

Doesn't excuse shitty behaviour though.

Elieza · 28/09/2021 09:58

Just phone the police. They have his name and address via his car details.

SageRosemary · 28/09/2021 10:08

@Blondefancy

Squirt some sort of disgusting gooey substance on their windshield wipers so when they’re turned on it smears all over their screen 🧐
Don't do this, if they turn on the wipers whilst driving it could result in the death of a pedestrian crossing the road
thereisonlyoneofme · 28/09/2021 10:28

I feel your pain, my neighbour (thankfully moved) had an alarm that said in very loud American voice "Step away from the car or the alarm will sound " Two or three times a night this went off and neighbour slept through it all until I hammered on his door at 3 am on night .

Timeforabiscuit · 29/09/2021 19:46

Well the last note was ignored, the car is back, the alarm went off, I have quizzed neighbours and found the culprit - I will keep banging on their door, Each and Every Time. And have stuck instructions on how to stop a car alarm on their windshield.

In true mumsnet style I will now provide the drip feed. I found out yesterday that dh has a brain tumour stage 3 with stage 4 features, he has surgery in two weeks and (unsurprisingly) banging headaches which are not at all helped by car alarms.

This thread has been very very welcome diversion from that particular shit storm. I'm going to have a long hot bath now, and hope that's as far as my rage carries me.

Elieza · 29/09/2021 19:52

So sorry to hear about DH.
Flowers

All this car alarm noise at night is not what you need. I hope you get the noise sorted soon with the idiot owner.

Princessbanana · 29/09/2021 20:47

💐 hope your DH is feeling better soon and I would be hammering there door each and every time it goes off!💕

Timeforabiscuit · 29/09/2021 20:58

Thank you for the well wishes, I've had an amazing bath at the perfect temperature, and youngest has made me a warm milk and honey - so no more rage tonight.

What, so that when it starts raining he turns his wipers on and can't see where he's going and ends up rear ending a car or running someone over?
SageRosemary · 30/09/2021 08:39

That's terrible news about your husband. (((hugs))) You sound like a determined warrior, he is blessed to have you by his side for this challenge. Wishing you both lots of uninterrupted sleeping nights together.

Oh for goodness sake. It is a statutory duty to investigate these complaints. Just contact your environmental Health team. Forget all the other nonsense suggestions here.
FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 30/09/2021 09:25

I think at this stage I'd probably just put a brick though the windscreen tbh. Just wear a hat and mask in case of a dashcam.

Weenurse · 30/09/2021 09:34

Sending positive thoughts and prayers for your husband , might want to contact local witches for car owner.
Once met a white witch who had a spell for everything, they may have one for car owners with faulty alarms.
