Teachers need to teach in schools don't they? Wink

OP posts:
PickAChew · 27/09/2021 13:58

And my 15 year old at special school is bigger than me and bloody loud. We take him on public transport as little as possible as it's over stimulating for him and can be distressing for other passengers.

BungleandGeorge · 27/09/2021 14:14

@noblegiraffe are you at work?

ConstanceGracy · 27/09/2021 14:40

But what about those of us who aren’t teachers or nhs but still need to, I don’t know.. go to work??
It’s just more division and I’m bloody sick of it.

If that doesn't stop panic buying in its tracks I don't know what will 🤣🤣🤣

Homeschooling every parents worst nightmare 🤣

noblegiraffe · 27/09/2021 14:52

Not anymore, Bungle. But you said the majority of petrol stations would be restocked and re-opened today and I have now wasted petrol looking.

Peaseblossum22 · 27/09/2021 14:55

Honestly I’m just tired , I just want something to work. I want people to be kind and respectful to each other , to stop ‘hating’ people who disagree with them and just agree to disagree. To have reasonable arguments and discussions about things

I am not a teacher but I do have three elderly people who rely on me plus a sick dog. I always try to see the best in people and have brought up my children to think about what they can do for others before thinking of themselves . But you know this country now worships at the cult of selfishness and I am treated like an idiot for thinking that humility is a virtue .

lemonpolish · 27/09/2021 15:10

bit daft to do that on the basis of a random MN post tbf

noblegiraffe · 27/09/2021 15:27

It was a detour on my way home, lemon, I did it because I need petrol, not because MN said to.

But I do hope if I do run out now, no one accuses me of allowing it to happen.

lemonpolish · 27/09/2021 15:33

So you didn’t go looking for petrol because of Bungle, then?

BungleandGeorge · 27/09/2021 15:40

Haha I’d suggest not listening to randoms on the internet about whether you need to refill. How much fuel do you actually have left? You asked my opinion, I gave it and according to most of the fuel company sites they have minimal closures. Some of the supermarkets say no problems whatsoever, there are lists online. There are also lists of stations with supplies but with a limit. I think I also said they’re generally refilled every other day so might be tomorrow. Your attendance at work is really just between you and your employer, not anything to do with mn
Piggywaspushed · 27/09/2021 15:51

If you wanted to be genuinely helpful, you could link to these helpful online lists as a quick Google for me brought up The Sun saying there wasn't such a thing.

lemonpolish · 27/09/2021 15:54

How, when no one knows where she lives?

DinosApple · 27/09/2021 15:55

5 out of 30 members of staff where I work could walk/bike. Out of that it's three teachers and two TAs (one of whom is me and I'm waiting for a PCR result and ill).

All the local fuel stations are out round here or emergency services only.
If I was well I'd offer to piggy back the teachers in!

Piggywaspushed · 27/09/2021 16:11

Thought it might be a national thing lemon where you could input a postcode or some such.

lemonpolish · 27/09/2021 16:18

Fair enough Piggy.

It has not been mentioned at my school.

noblegiraffe · 27/09/2021 16:30

Fab, Bungle, we’ve established that despite your confident assertions about what people should or shouldn’t be doing, and should or should not have done over the weekend, people shouldn’t listen to you because you don’t actually know what you are talking about and people’s local and individual situations might differ.

That actually applies to a lot of people on this thread.

DanglingMod · 27/09/2021 16:35

We had two teaching staff not get in because of petrol sit'n and 6 off with Covid. The supply agency could send one person. Today has been fun Wink

Foreverlexicon · 27/09/2021 17:03

@BluebellsGreenbells school doesn’t help blue light workers on night shifts or lates though…

User5827372728 · 27/09/2021 17:31

@DanglingMod

Surprised they can just say they can’t get in. Our school has made it clear that is not an option

DanglingMod · 27/09/2021 17:34

One came in late actually but the other couldn't get in at all. They live 45 miles away and there's no public transport at either end so not sure what they were supposed to do?

Moll2020 · 27/09/2021 17:43

I need my car to get to school. None of my colleagues live in the local area of the school so we all drive into school, except the HT who cycles.

Could you direct me to that post? Where I told you what to do, rather than offered an opinion on a chat forum? No you’d rather just be rude and use hyperbole. Which is fine because it’s only between you and your boss and I doubt you are actually out of fuel anyway.
Piggywaspushed · 27/09/2021 18:06

Why do you doubt that? No one has said they are out of fuel but plenty of us will be if the situation doesn't resolve itself in the next day or so. We are the people who biddably did not panic buy.

My village Facebook is full of people with their petrol lights on in a bit of a flap.

Bookvan · 27/09/2021 18:09

@Jellykat

Just thinking at what point do school buses run out of fuel? So maybe not just the teachers who cant get in if we carry on like this..
I drive a school bus. I have enough diesel till about Wednesday. Local garages are completely out of diesel or have a £30 limit, which tbh, is not even worth bothering with when the coach has a 400l fuel tank
DanglingMod · 27/09/2021 18:11

Our village petrol station just announced it will be out until Friday. Some people are going nowhere. Hope that doesn't include too many NHS and other keyworker staff.
