Works night out and sick colleague

Colleague has been sick for weeks from covid and coughs/colds, and been WFH.

She’s coming out tonight despite being at home all week.

AIBU for thinking she should come?

Yanbu and I hope she has a jolly nice time if she feels up to it

Finfintytint · 24/09/2021 17:42

Yes, she should come. If she’s been feeling awful for weeks then it’ll probably do her some good.

Lulu1919 · 24/09/2021 17:43

Is she back in on Monday ?
If she's well enough to go out tonight she should have gone to work today ...I'd be too embarrassed if I were her

She’s been WFH constantly and will come into the office sometimes.

She’s been of sick for a week for Covid and wasn’t working. Rest of the time she was at home working.

Are you her manager or in HR?

LikeACatInTheDark · 24/09/2021 17:47

^oops - I misread should as shouldn't Blush

Co worker.

So this week specifically, she was WFH?

Talktalkchat · 24/09/2021 17:49

@MattHancocksSexTape

Annual leave for some and half day working from home.

No YANBU if she's up for it and manager has maybe encouraged her. If you're not her manager you have no idea what the WFH agreement is.

hopeishere · 24/09/2021 17:52

So she's better if she's been on leave and WFH this week. Why shouldn't she come?

MattHancocksSexTape · 24/09/2021 17:52

So she wasn’t off sick then. So why shouldn’t she come for your night out as she is well and working?

Eleganz · 24/09/2021 17:52

If she is working from home, she is working. She is also allowed to have annual leave and still turn up to social functions with colleagues. It doesn't sound like she is currently on sick leave or has COVID so what is the issue here?

WoozySnoozy · 24/09/2021 17:52

@Talktalkchat annual leave isn't a problem. It would be a bit odd if she'd been off sick today and then gone out on a work do but apart from that I'd not think any more of it really.

WoozySnoozy · 24/09/2021 17:53

She's probably making an effort not to get isolated from the team

I don’t know if she’s contagious. Sore throat etc

I think I've got the timelines muddled sorry.

If she hasn't got covid she's allowed out

girlmom21 · 24/09/2021 17:56

So she always works from home? When did she test positive for Covid? Presumably she's done her isolation period?

Talktalkchat · 24/09/2021 17:56

She’s been working from home, comes into the office sometimes and other times will be of sick. Before getting sick she was in the office all the time.

Is she off sick now or not? How do you know she is ill?

She’s got colds/sore throat etc so is staying at home as agreed with manager/loose company policy.

She’s always working. Spoke to her today and she sounds ill. But it will settle down after a few hours. Think she’s at home due to tiredness and also coughing.

If we were having this convo 2 weeks ago she would have a cold and would be in the office.

However it’s 2021 and she’s been WFH for a number of weeks due to covid, cough, cold, tiredness etc. Manager agreed she could stay at home.

So not sure if people will get paranoid she’s infecting them and her team will think she’s abusing WFH?
