AIBU to think I am the only woman with a pee-trigger area? *title edited by MNHQ at OP's request*

Posting here for traffic, also I can't find a suitable category within Talk.
-----

I have waited all my adult life to ask this question but never had contact with a big enough group of women! Mumsnet has come to my aid!

If anyone (including me) or anything touches the centre of the small of my back, just about where the bum-crack starts, I instantly feel that feeling you have when urgently you need to pee.

Even if I have just had a pee and thought everything was emptied out, let's say just before I get in the shower, if the flannel or loofah or my hand touches that spot, I instantly feel that "need-to-pee" feeling and if I let it, a bit of pee will always come out.

It's caused a bit of annoyance during sex over the years as sometimes that area might receive a caress or some pressure put on it. I then always have to stop and pee.

I've asked a few random friends if this happens to them and they said it did not.

At last I have the chance to ask a bigger group and find out whether or not I am completely unique in this!

Voting

IABU = no, you don't get that feeling

IANBU = yes, that also happens to you

According to the vote only 12% of women responding have this pee-trigger!

I have this Blush

@Supertree

Haha, no. But I do get a strong feeling that I'm about to vomit which disappears when I sneeze. And when I get bad trapped wind/IBS pain I feel it in my shoulder blade. I assume they are also to do with nerves.
I get both of these - I'm so pleased I'm not alone!*
  • but obviously am also sorry you have the same thing, it's flipping irritating sometimes!
MrsColon · 24/09/2021 16:16

I've just looked it up - it's a reflex that usually goes away around 6 months of age. In some individuals, though, it can be retained, and can lead to ADHD-like symptoms, clumsiness, fidgeting, a preference to lie on the tummy to do things that require concentration (like reading). It's fascinating!

Mine's in a different place, but same place as @AnneLovesGilbert

Squidwardrules · 24/09/2021 16:25

Nope but I get the same feeling if I poke my belly button!

TeaSoakedDisasterMagnet · 24/09/2021 16:26

I thought I was alone! Mine is right at the cleft of my bum crack and if I scratch it or press it I desperately need a wee. Husband thinks it’s funny to press there.

WheresYourSnickers · 24/09/2021 16:26

@Maskless

Thank you for responding.

As we've gone off topic to other triggers, I would add that when I pluck my eyebrows with tweezers, I ALWAYS sneeze.

This happens for me too, I always have to warn the beautician that I'm likely to sneeze when getting my brows done.

Re the peeing one; I always have to pee when I go to the supermarket, not quite the same thing but feels like a trigger for me.

Crikey. That (mostly) sums me up. Other than the tripping over often. Interesting. I'm adding it to my list of things to mention to the dr.

andtheweedonkey · 24/09/2021 16:30

No. Mine tends to be standing in front of the sink when the tap is running and I'm starting the washing up.😂

Sounds a right PITA though. Flowers

zingally · 24/09/2021 16:38

Yup! Happens to me! And now I want to go and do it again!

FeralWoman · 24/09/2021 16:48

The link from MrsColon doesn't describe me at all apart from not liking sport and being a bit clumsy and uncoordinated. I hate lying on my tummy. Concentrating at school was no problem.

My daughter sneezes if her hair gets pulled a bit when brushing out a knot. I sneeze when plucking particular eyebrow areas.

I sneeze from bright light or sunlight. I had no idea this wasn't normal until I met my husband who doesn't do this. Pretty much everyone in my family sneezes from bright light, including my daughter. It's some sort of reflex in less than 10% of the population.

Thefantasticfour · 24/09/2021 16:50

Mine doesn't make me need to wee but if I'm bursting for a wee, when I finally let it out, the whole bottom of my back/top of my bum really tingles and itches, so I'm guessing they're linked in some way!

fuckoffImcounting · 24/09/2021 17:02

I want one.

CornedBeef451 · 24/09/2021 17:03

I don't think I have that but might have a similar nerve type thing as if I sleep on my back my hands go numb and I wake up with pins and needles in them!

Theluggage15 · 24/09/2021 17:09

I have that and use it to force out a last wee before bed!! I have to actually scratch to get the reaction.

Youdoyoutoday · 24/09/2021 17:19

Is it weird that I've just caressed my own arse to see if I need to pee??

tupperwaretowers · 24/09/2021 17:24

I don’t get this particular feeling.

However, as soon as I walk into a lift my bladder starts twitching and I mentally pick which corner I would pee in!

AJB3001 · 24/09/2021 17:26

Nope it's the top of the back of my thighs for me but I know exactly what you mean 🤣🤣

Chocolatier9 · 24/09/2021 17:31

@fuckoffImcounting

I want one.
So do I. I’ve been pressing and scratching from time to time all afternoon and nothing and I feel irrationally cross about it.
ThinWomansBrain · 24/09/2021 17:33

& I thought the thread was going to be when you're five minutes away from getting home Grin

OhWhyNot · 24/09/2021 17:35

I’m very sensitive there shall try to see if it makes me want to pee

I have a little scar on the inside of my knee, wasn’t a deep cut. If I run my finger over it I feel sick similar with one side of my csection scar

SouthSideSally · 24/09/2021 17:42

Me and my daughter both have this. If we are going for a long walk we can both make ourselves wee before we go by tickling our lower backs. It's handy. But none of the Gallant stuff above applies to either of us.

MrsHemsworth · 24/09/2021 18:01

I have this, too. If I tickle just above the bum crack it makes me wee. As a PP said, it's very handy if you need to provide a urine sample!

I also do it to my toddler if she sits on the toilet refusing to wee before bedtime and it seems to relax her and work on her as well.

Girlwhowearsglasses · 26/09/2021 12:39

Yep. Thought I was a madwoman. I did put it on another thread once and discovered I wasn't the only one.
