AIBU to think I am the only woman with a pee-trigger area? *title edited by MNHQ at OP's request*

Posting here for traffic, also I can't find a suitable category within Talk.

I have waited all my adult life to ask this question but never had contact with a big enough group of women! Mumsnet has come to my aid!

If anyone (including me) or anything touches the centre of the small of my back, just about where the bum-crack starts, I instantly feel that feeling you have when urgently you need to pee.

Even if I have just had a pee and thought everything was emptied out, let's say just before I get in the shower, if the flannel or loofah or my hand touches that spot, I instantly feel that "need-to-pee" feeling and if I let it, a bit of pee will always come out.

It's caused a bit of annoyance during sex over the years as sometimes that area might receive a caress or some pressure put on it. I then always have to stop and pee.

I've asked a few random friends if this happens to them and they said it did not.

At last I have the chance to ask a bigger group and find out whether or not I am completely unique in this!

IABU = no, you don't get that feeling

IANBU = yes, that also happens to you

Doesn't me which is good news because I'm sat in the office

OldTinHat · 24/09/2021 12:22

Am I the only one now poking and prodding their back to find this mysterious pee trigger??

BordelDeMerde · 24/09/2021 12:27

I can't wash my hands without it triggering a need to pee.
Appreciate that's not the same thing, though.

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 24/09/2021 12:31

@MistyGreenAndBlue

Not only this but if I scratch or poke around in my ear I have to cough. Weird right?
DH has this too when he cleans his ears he has a coughing fit
hellywelly3 · 24/09/2021 12:31

It happens for me too! Glad I’m not the only one!

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 24/09/2021 12:33

I have the same thing, I presume all the nerves there are connected somehow.

TheOnlyMrsM · 24/09/2021 12:35

Not me, but reading this thread has made me want to go.

Supertree · 24/09/2021 12:43

Haha, no. But I do get a strong feeling that I'm about to vomit which disappears when I sneeze. And when I get bad trapped wind/IBS pain I feel it in my shoulder blade. I assume they are also to do with nerves.

GalaxyPostcard · 24/09/2021 12:53

I just tried it and I don't have an urge to pee but I know exactly where you mean because it feels very sensitive and weird when I do touch it!

DP (we're both women) also doesn't get it and now thinks I'm mad for asking her to scratch her back Grin

AnneLovesGilbert · 24/09/2021 12:56

I used to have this if someone other than me put a finger in my belly button. Stopped once I’d had a baby. I don’t miss it so I feel for you.

ACupOfTeaSolvesEverything · 24/09/2021 12:58

It’s a retained primitive reflex - the Spinal Galant reflex to be precise.

cantgetmyheadroundit · 24/09/2021 12:59

I've tried to find it... Nothing whatsoever. Which is kind of annoying because I have to pee a LOT.

Famousfrays · 24/09/2021 13:03

I get it and also if I put my finger in my belly button

HosannainExcelSheets · 24/09/2021 13:06

Have you ever been investigated for spina bifida occulta?

CoralBells · 24/09/2021 13:06

Same op

Maskless · 24/09/2021 13:07

Thank you for responding.

As we've gone off topic to other triggers, I would add that when I pluck my eyebrows with tweezers, I ALWAYS sneeze.

Yes me too !

Dobbyhasnomaster · 24/09/2021 13:11

YES thank you for talking about this! So weird, always wondered if it was just me

CiaoForNiao · 24/09/2021 13:17

I get this too.
I have a sacral dimple (that's my exact pee trigger spot) and they can be linked to bladder issues because of nerves.

PartyStory · 24/09/2021 13:18

Don’t appear to have this but my (male) partner always sneezes when his stomach is full. The amount of sneezes depends on how full he is but the maximum is 7. Was a little awkward eating outside when corona first hit and not all the symptoms were well known.

He also gets very sleepy when his stomach is full (after the sneezes).

LunaBunaTuna · 24/09/2021 13:40

Doesn’t happen to me but my Aunt advised me to do this to my son when he was being potty-trained to make him wee so it obviously is a ‘thing’.

Can’t remember if this worked though 😃

FeralWoman · 24/09/2021 13:44

This happens to me. It's very handy for when I need to pee but don't feel the urge.

I've never mentioned it to anyone. Figured I was weird. I can't remember how I discovered it. Glad to know that it's normal.

SirenSays · 24/09/2021 13:55

It's a ticklish feeling for me but definitely doesn't make me need to pee.

Tabbycat12345 · 24/09/2021 14:05

Yes this happens to me too! I’ve only noticed fairly recently and was worried it was a side effect of having a baby but clearly not. I’m glad I’m not the only one

PartyPotato · 24/09/2021 14:23

No but if somebody whispers in my ear it makes my teeth feel numb
