Will I get this back?

Dd started nursery first day of September, hasn’t settled well and really miserable. It wasn’t the childcare setting I expected and she won’t be going back. I had the meeting today and the head was disappointed, I asked what happens next and she said nothing 🤷🏻‍♀️I’m just to go in and collect her things tomorrow.
When she started, I paid a deposit, the months fees and for her art apron. I didn’t have time to discuss this as just really wanted to get it said that she wouldn’t be coming back.
Anyone know the general rules on this?

Similar situation. Removed instantly due to safeguarding reasons. I received a bill. I refused to pay, they took me to court. So, I suggest you pay.

@Boombadoom Wow, really 😞Did they tell you at the time you had to pay? I asked her what happens next, she said ‘Nothing’ and looked a bit confused 🤷🏻‍♀️

Sorry to had to go through that

My friend has had similar at the same nursery, took her two girls out early on, had only paid the deposit at that point. She didn’t have to pay the time or any future time they were due to be there. However she hadn’t yet signed the contract and said she would have threatened them with the complaints book had they expected her to pay more.

Did your friend's children start at the same time, it seems really odd you would send your daughter there when you knew others who had faced issues and removed their children.

Its also completely different as she hadn’t signed a contract and you have. I really think you need to accept you owe them this money.

I'd also recommend if you enrol in another nursery that you take someone with you next time who will be able to understand the contract and clarify everything before you sign.

Well, have you paid a month up front or do yoy pay in arrears? In arrears you will be invoiced for what your contract states (notice period from today, as well as any care received until now)

Alwaysblowingballoonsup · 20/09/2021 22:02

@FuckingFlumps We started at the same time, but have two friends who have had their babies there (not toddlers) for over a year and love the place. Their views swayed me a little to choose there

@RealBecca She started on the 1st September and we have until the 8th of each month to pay that months fee, I’d already paid it by then, so I’ve paid for the month of September 🤷🏻‍♀️

Also, she didn’t go in full time, only two mornings per week..I realise that probably won’t make much difference to them! She only had lunch once
