Toddler just put iPhone in mouth

My son just put my plugged in and switched on iPhone charger in his mouth. Should I be worried? There seems to be no ill effect at the moment…

As long as your phone still works then it’ll be ok

FreddyMercurysCat · 15/09/2021 21:11

Eh? Mine is forever trying to eat my phone.

What do you think is going to happen?

Kazziek · 15/09/2021 21:11

No, you should not be worried.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 15/09/2021 21:12

Your phone will be fine.

BlueMoons90 · 15/09/2021 21:12

Electrocution isn't a slow process. You would know if something was wrong.

Snoozer11 · 15/09/2021 21:12

Depends where your phone has been I suppose.

Ida37 · 15/09/2021 21:12

I was concerned about the current going through the charger

Shoxfordian · 15/09/2021 21:14

Probably still worked as long as it’s still charged up ok

Ida37 · 15/09/2021 21:14

It was the charger not the phone - it was stupidly left plugged in and switched on

Has he had an immediate electric shock? Because that I S the only cause for worry surely? If he's toddled off fine, then he's fine.

I think people are getting mixed up. Did he put your phone in his mouth? Or did he put the charger in his mouth? It isn't clear

Sally7645 · 15/09/2021 21:21

There's no electrical current unless it's plugged into a device, according to an electrician friend

Ida37 · 15/09/2021 21:22

It was the actual end of the charger which was plugged in and switched on

ChaosMoon · 15/09/2021 21:23

It's about 5 volts, it would struggle to hurt a kitten.

Ida37 · 15/09/2021 21:23

@Rugsofhonour yes I was abit worried about that - I was once told that could happen…

If it helps, apparently I tried to electrocute myself as a baby when I pulled a power cable out of a radio and put it in my mouth. There was a big bang and I got knocked backwards and had a burn in my mouth so I'd say you'd know about it if he'd got a shock, after all, even static shocks hurt...

FelicityBeedle · 15/09/2021 21:27

Stick it in your mouth if you’re worried. You can’t feel it at all, I’ve done it absent mindedly a fair few times

Beachtrip · 15/09/2021 21:33

Chargers work much like a lighting ring and switch.
the phone has touch points inside the charging receiver and the charger has touch point on the outside of the thingy, when those touch points meet current is allowed to pass.
If you don't turn on the light switch the current can't flow.

Your child can't conduct the current because it isn't an iPhone.

LaikO · 15/09/2021 21:49

Both your child and charger will be fine. đŸ™‚

Ida37 · 15/09/2021 21:50

@FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack oh my goodness - that sounds horrific! I’m glad you were ok
@FelicityBeedle I did! It tasted metallicy and felt abit buzzy - I though that was the current…

Ensure you update the toddler to the latest version of the operating system, if in doubt reboot your toddler by pressing [nose + mouth + bellybutton]

CantBeAssed · 15/09/2021 21:59

@brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
đŸ¤£đŸ¤£đŸ¤£ I'm folded!

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 15/09/2021 22:00

Oh I was fine, and I never did it again Grin I think you can probably stop trying to recreate it and relax now Brew

Wole · 15/09/2021 22:01

if he seems ok I'd assume he just got the same as you. A bit tingly
