Quite annoyed listening to a Fashion Expert for instance saying that people have been wearing lounge wear for the last year and change is on the horizon

we haven't all been lounging, yet alone wfm and feel it is narrow minded to say we were!
aibu to be annoyed
would you be annoyed.

Even for those working outside of the home (I've done a mix with my job), many of us have done far less socialising and therefore still far more loungewear / casual clothing in the evenings and at weekends.

itsgettingwierd · 14/09/2021 07:40

The trend is lounge wear has increased!

I've haven't been living in it because I work in a school so have been in all the way through!

However with the invention of better walking loungewear which can be worn as clothes I've purchased it because my ds is a swimmer. It's lovely to put in something warm and comfy when driving him to training at 4.30am!!!

But I've also brought more gym wear because I'm walking/running when he trains and doing a lot more at home which I started when all I was allowed to do was go to work!

Longdistance · 14/09/2021 07:40

Some of us still made the effort. I wouldn’t be seen in loungewear, it sounds all very Golden Girls.

Frannibananni · 14/09/2021 07:43

😂😂😂 no I’ve been wearing active wear. It’s become so much more socially acceptable to wear it everywhere now.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 14/09/2021 07:46

i saw a woman in a wet suit yesterday, walking from her car, i believe she may have been going into the sea though!

What a weird thing to get annoyed about.

It’s just a turn of phrase, it doesn’t mean EVERY single person was wearing lounge wear or walking their dog, just that it was a trend.

Blueskyrainshowers · 14/09/2021 07:49

I'm with OP tbh. I'd quite often shout at the radio when they were talking about 'everybody' doing this or that during lockdown (particularly the first one) Everybody wasn't all doing the same thing, and we certainly weren't all doing it in loungewear.
I'm quite pleased at being able to get smart stretchy trousers though.

BlotBangRub · 14/09/2021 07:49

I don't even know what lounge wear is 🤷

cricketmum84 · 14/09/2021 07:51

I don't think I would let it annoy me tbh.

I did splash out on nice loungewear during lockdown though and barely wore makeup 😂 although I've been in "proper clothes" since I started my new job in May as I have video calls every day.

notacooldad · 14/09/2021 07:51

would you be annoyed
Would I heck be annoyed. It's just a broad sweeping statement!🤷‍♀️

CantStartaFireWithoutaSpark · 14/09/2021 07:52

I have ironically decided to wear loungewear today as it’s a total wash out today and I’ve decided I’m probably not going to leave the house.

DressBitch · 14/09/2021 07:55

Your subsequent posts are even weirder

Mindyourbusiness22 · 14/09/2021 07:55

If this is all you’ve got to be annoyed about you’re doing okay.

I would not be annoyed by it. I cannot imagine given it a second (or even first, really) thought at all.

godmum56 · 14/09/2021 08:00

@MrsLargeEmbodied

oh and then she said We have all been walking our dogs fgs
its lazy thought processes and lazy speech
DumplingsAndStew · 14/09/2021 08:00

I know it seems every second person on MN is a ⚡⚡KEYWORKER⚡⚡ doing 80 hours a week on the ⚡⚡FRONT LINE⚡⚡ but even those who have been working out of the home are more likely to have worn more comfortable clothes in their non-working time, simply as there's been nowhere to dress up for!

MrsLargeEmbodied · 14/09/2021 08:01

@godmum56

exactly, it is lazy

MrsLargeEmbodied · 14/09/2021 08:03

but actually the pubs/restaurants and nightclubs have been open for a while, so the so called expert is out of date

OP posts:
Mantlemoose · 14/09/2021 08:03

I'm guessing you have worked all the way through, slogged your guts out for 18 hour days when the other 90% of the company were furloughed probably having their wages topped up to 100%? Obviously not their fault and they would have their own worries and stresses but we seem to be the forgotten ones.If so I totally get where you're coming from.

Booknooks · 14/09/2021 08:17

Also a good point!

Same here.

It sounds like it should be something glamorous and made of silk that one wears while casually draped over a chaise longue.
