Baby is 3 months old.

DH thinks Disney clothing is "chavvy?"

I think it's fine for babies / children

I don't think it's a big deal really is it? So long as baby is warm and comfy who cares what they're wearing. I think there are much more inappropriate things they could wear. If your DH doesn't like it them consider that in future perhaps but I would just use the bits you've got now.

CaMePlaitPas · 13/09/2021 18:48

I went to Lidl (gasp) today and bought some Peppa Pig (double gasp) t shirts for my children. I had no idea this type of snobbery was even a thing, who cares what kids wear?

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 13/09/2021 18:49

I hate all character clothing and wouldn’t buy it. I also wouldn’t dress a child in head to toe Burberry / Ralph Lauren etc. On a par as far as I’m concerned.

OrangutanLibrarian · 13/09/2021 18:51

@DoormatBob

He's a baby, not an accessory.
And children aren’t adults that can be left in the park by themselves, Bob.
OrangutanLibrarian · 13/09/2021 18:53

When it's a tiny baby it just looks like the adult is "really into Disney" which suggests... well, a bit of a lack of personality

I'm not keen on it for babies, but once they are old enough to take an interest in the characters themselves I let them have a few bits.

banoffeee · 13/09/2021 18:55

Everyone has different tastes. Makes me laugh when someone comes along and says ‘I detest character clothing except the Beatrix potter range Joules do/hungry caterpillar at Jojo maman bebe/Cath kidston Disney mash-up’

ViciousJackdaw · 13/09/2021 19:43

I've no interest in children's clothes at all but even I think that the H&M outfit is really rather sweet.

JaninaDuszejko · 13/09/2021 20:44

But if you look at the last link you posted with the grey foxes, I don't think that's very different to this sort of thing (other than this is a colour).

But the Winnie the Pooh illustrations were by E. H. Shepard not by any Disney employee. So most people would look at this and think 'Winnie the Pooh' not 'Disney'.

Dancingonmoonlight · 13/09/2021 20:55

I find it tacky and dislike the examples you initially posted.
However the clothes you linked eg the dark green bsbygro is beautiful.

My youngest DD likes sparkles and glitter and I vowed never to buy it. She won!

DeepaBeesKit · 13/09/2021 20:57

I dont like slogans or branding on kids clothes but its personal preference and my opinion on it is no better than yours OP. As long as its comfy and practical, as you were.

Sprogonthetyne · 13/09/2021 20:57

I'm not a fan. I'd buy it for an older child if the asked, and tell them how lovely their choice was, but until their big enough to ask I choose and would avoid characters.

AWellReadWoman · 13/09/2021 21:00

Not really a fan but I do think it makes a difference depending on where it's from and what characters. I never wanted to dress my son in them as a baby but now he's at the age where he wants Paw Patrol or Fireman Sam on everything!

Wole · 13/09/2021 21:03

@waybill

Don't worry, it will soon be covered in sick/wee/poo and spend more time in the washing machine than it does on the baby, and be outgrown within weeks. Grin
I was going to say this!
BatShitBitchChops · 13/09/2021 21:05

I dress them in whatever I thought was cute. There are loads more nice boys bits around now than when my teens were little! I also have a 6yr old DD who loves a bit of sparkle and tackiness. Makes her happy so I'm happy to oblige. (And I brought some disney tshirts for myself ready for our disney trip next year, in my 30's)

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 13/09/2021 21:07

It’s fine it’s just clothes! As long as the clothes are comfortable and allow freedom of movement etc it’s no problem.

RoseMartha · 13/09/2021 21:09

I think it depends on the specific item.

BunnytheFriendlyDragon · 13/09/2021 21:52

No I didn't know there was this kind of attitude to character clothing!

And children aren’t adults that can be left in the park by themselves, Bob.

Didn't really understand which side Bob was even in tbh! He's not an accessory but we have to dress him!

Well, quite.

I think it depends on the specific item.

I think I agree. Most items I buy don't have characters on them. Baby most often wears plain vest and trouser combos (a bit like the green fox one but plain in one colour). There have just been a couple of Disney things I have bought and didn't realise until today DH didn't approve.

Quite a few of people have given Disney themed outfits and they are things I might not have chosen myself but they are cute enough.

I only showed the self-coloured one, but if you look at all three it's easier to tell that they're drawings from The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, and not the original book illustrations.

But I could have used a different example. I was trying to illustrate (ha) the type of style I'd buy.

Siameasy · 13/09/2021 22:42

Not really my cup of tea since I don’t like Disney. If the character on the clothing doesn’t annoy me I don’t mind it. Eg I don’t mind Shopkins but hated Peppa
