Ooni - wood fired or gas?

So torn. Present for DH, I think he would prefer wood fired but there is the convenience of gas.

I read a different thread and a poster mentioned soot and having to clean it out was a pain.

Opinions please! Thank you.

We have wooden peel (put semolina on it) to put pizza in oven. Then metal peel to turn.

Had same dilemma last Christmas - went with gas in the end, so easy. Two peels, one with handle and one without, we use handled peel for pulling out of the oven and use peel without handle for swivelling a quarter turn on the peel with the handle. If you see what I mean.....

There’s a really good facebook page for ooni users called ooni community i think (DH is on it not me) They have loads of helpful tips and tricks to help get you started
The Ooni FB page was great during Brexit. My FB feed was full of Brexit misery, but the Ooni FB feed was so happy & refreshing. It was full of photos of people proudly showing their pizzas and others asking where they could source their nearest wood pellets!

We went for gas because when we switched from a charcoal to a gas bbq we suddenly used the bbq far far more often.
We knew that we would be more likely to use the ooni often if we reduced the faff involved. Gas means we can do weeknight spontaneous pizza if we want to.

We’ve got the Pro, so gas or wood or charcoal. Can’t see us ever using the gas, but I bought it as a gift and knew dh would want the all-singing one.

He has also bought every Ooni accessory they do. Massive peel, turning peel, slicer, skillet, thwacking great table, cook book….all manner of things. 🙄

We have a wood-fired, ours is Skillcraft. Personally hoping they come out with gas option soon but I think DH enjoys the rustic-y feel.

Are you me? I gave my husband one for his birthday and he has gone slightly obsessive too. We also have the book and the slicer (plus peels and thermometer) but also a huge array of proofing bowls. He’s also very particular about his ingredients. The man NEVER cooks so this is a revaluation, albeit a messy one.

Chocolatecoatedkettlebell spooky!

I have to say, the pizzas taste bloody amazing.
