DD2 is off to uni in a fortnight.

When DD1 went I put together a small storage crate full of chemist items, first aid stuff, cough and cold remedies (lucky I did as she was really laid low with freshers' flu within a week of arrival). Emergency hangover kit - long life vegetable and fruit juices like V8, long life milk and breakfast bars so she could lie in bed and restore herself. Homesickness treats - fluffy socks and lots of chocolate and a cuddly toy.
And a few more serious items like drink spike test strips.

When DD's friend went to uni last year I did similar for her too as she has lost her Mum.

Now it is DD2's turn, so I made a start today in Boots with extra advice from a helpful chap on the pharmacy till.

Just wondering if others do this too and if so what items do you put in?

So many lovely ideas and lots of love on this thread, I'm so glad I started it.

Had a mad three weeks with my Mum in hospital and various other crises so delivering the DD to uni last weekend was practically a day off. Think she must be having a good time as we've barely heard from her except texts asking if she left her phone charger at home (she did) and a call to check paracetamol dosage as she has gone down with a cold. She's under 50kg so should really only have one (500mg) paracetamol where the usual dose is double that. I had checked with the chemist when stocking up and on his advice bought Lemsip (I can't remember which one or if it was Boots own) that has 675mg in a sachet so she's dosing up on that.

Also, forgot to pack coat hangers and pins for the cork board.

Incidentally poking around the kitchen looking for an empty cupboard for her stuff I was amazed to see the extensive supply of cooking equipment one of the boys lurking there had brought. Cake tins and beaters included! Good signs I'm sure.

Hope everyone gets their DC off and they all settle and have a good time.

Empty nesting started well ....... as we got home I said "oh goody, just in time to watch Emma Radacanu". He said "What, all evening?"
So I was downstairs with Wine and tennis and he disappeared off to the DD's bedroom to watch TV in there. A bit later my friend who had also delivered DD's best friend to the same place texted to say she was also watching tennis and her DH upstairs watching whatever. Grin

So for those of you who are going to be empty nesters - hope it's going well for you.

Dropped twins off to two different Unis. Was amazed by how lovely the staff welcoming them were. They were so busy but held onto to their smiles and their humour! Made such a difference to us and the students.
Magnetic boards for both of them. No door hooks for either. No bins. No cutlery trays for either - a very small cupboard for one. Two massive fridge freezers for both. Lovely accommodation though and lovely flatmates. Dh and I spent the day tidying the house - we might even tidy their bedrooms - cooked a late steak lunch and we went to the pub to meet a friend, so far empty nesting going well - weird though, missing them more than I thought I would.

@EmptyNesterSoon and @Bakingtraypan I'm glad your dc drop offs have gone well and definitely agree that not hearing much from them is a good sign!

My baby Ds goes on Sunday (gulp!) and he's pretty chilled so far (has been having therapy for his anxiety which seems to be helping thankfully, and as it's on zoom he can continue with it when at uni if he wants to). He's in a group chat with his flat mates although it's very minimal, and he's sharing with 4 girls who are studying Medicine, History, Philosophy and Psychology (he's doing computer science) so seems like a good mix (one room in the flat not accounted for yet). I've got a lot from this thread so thanks all!
