I have no friends to go with and only single seats left anyway, should I go on my own?

OP posts:
Bopahula · 30/08/2021 17:46

Yes. Absolutely.
I went to the theatre for a comedy the other night and there were a few people who came in on their own.
Once the show starts you don't even think about it.

I love going to the cinema on my own too. No one else to consider. ;)

Go and have a great time. :)

girlmom21 · 30/08/2021 17:47

It's better to go to things like this on your own IMO!

ShinyMe · 30/08/2021 17:47

I go to things on my own all the time (or did, before covid) and I really like it. Nobody will bat an eyelid. Much better to go than to miss out.

TwoLeftElbows · 30/08/2021 17:47

Absolutely! Beer/malteasers are all the friends you need

Lockheart · 30/08/2021 17:48

Why would you be unreasonable to go on your own?

Hobnobswantshernameback · 30/08/2021 17:48

I've booked an amazing seat -front row
For myself at an "evening with " event
I can't wait

AuntLydiasNewHairdo · 30/08/2021 17:49

Of course!

AwkwardSquad · 30/08/2021 17:50

Yes, definitely. And treat yourself to whatever drinks and snacks you like as well. Take yourself out!

musicalfrog · 30/08/2021 17:51

While travelling I went to several comedy shows (and cinema, and music gigs) alone, its perfectly acceptable. Enjoy!

CliffordMystery · 30/08/2021 17:52

Definitely - I go to things on my own all the time and I really enjoy it.

Loveprosecca · 30/08/2021 17:54

Yes definitely go. Enjoy yourself

plodalong12 · 30/08/2021 17:56

For me it would depend on the venue. Last time I went to a smaller venue I spent half the time trying to hide behind my friends in order not to get picked on (he was an arsehole type of “comedian”).

thereisonlyoneofme · 30/08/2021 19:29

Go, I go to the theatre all the time on my own.

Maflingo · 30/08/2021 19:34

Yeah, I love going to that sort of thing on my own! Go for it!

FrankButchersDickieBow · 30/08/2021 20:10

Of course you should go and enjoy!!

Don't miss out.

ThinWomansBrain · 30/08/2021 20:15

I went to quite a few comedy things last year in that sept-nov period when things opened up a bit - because of social distancing, you could actually see that a greater part of the audience was individuals rather than couples (I don't think groups were allowed)

I'm looking forward to a very very good solo seat at last night of the proms Grin

BlusteryLake · 30/08/2021 20:19

Of course you can go alone! I spent a couple of years between relationships and I often went to places alone because I couldn't be bothered with having to coordinate schedules with someone else.

Xmassprout · 30/08/2021 20:20

If you're happy to do so, absolutely go for it!

MrsSkylerWhite · 30/08/2021 20:22

Why wouldn’t you?
Not single but because of medical issues, my husband can’t tolerate theatre seats for a couple of hours.
If I didn’t go alone, I’d never see anything. No one cares 🤷‍♀️

HairyMaryMyCanary · 30/08/2021 20:31

Of course, go alone. No-one will even notice. Well, the people on stage usually notice, but the audience don't care.

Rizzoli123 · 30/08/2021 20:32

Not a comedian but I am going to a crag show in November by myself. So looking forward to a bit of me time

Window1 · 30/08/2021 20:32

Yes definitely

HeronLanyon · 30/08/2021 20:34

Yes go !

Kihanxxxx · 30/08/2021 20:36

Yes :) alphas don't run in packs

MurielSpriggs · 30/08/2021 20:37

I love stand-up and quite often go alone. Normally the more informal room-above-a-pub type of thing. All I'd say is that I'm usually twice the age of anyone there, and I've often noticed organisers and off-duty comedians giving me the side eye. In the end I realised that it's because they think I'm some sort of talent scout Grin
