Me and my friend are going to Manchester tomorrow.
We are going for 2 nights for shopping /food and drinks.
We love a cocktail and said we will have to have a couple of cocktails.

She messages me a hour ago telling me she's booked some fancy place with a skyline view ??
And she's paid for a cocktail tree
It's 8 pornstar martinis and it's £120
So it's £60 each

I told her that was expensive and she really should have asked first
She said "oh stop being stingy it will be fab"

So I've paid £60 for 4 pornstar martinis
£15 each !!
Please someone tell me they agree that £60 for 4 drinks is ridiculous?
I was thinking revolution /slug and lettuce 2 for £10 or 2for £12
Not £60 for 4

Anyone else want a pornstar martini now 😂 I'd never looked up what was in them, I assumed it was martini, which I don't like. I usually have a pina colada, but now I want one of these!

The thought of 2 people sitting at a table with 8 cocktails all at once is pretty funny, aren’t they meant for a group of people? Won’t they get a bit warm by the time you get round to drinking the 4th one?!

To be fair OP is from Middlesborough so if she drinks like a northerner she'll be fine

Cloud 23 is fab and yes you’re paying more for the view than the drinks! I don’t blame your friend for wanting to go somewhere special for drinks rather than just Revolution or S&L. I wouldn’t want to drink 4 of the same cocktails though - that’s what I’d have an issue with! She should definitely have asked before booking it. It’s done now though so just enjoy the experience!

That is outrageous both from your friend and the price of the drinks. And for her to assume you want 4 of the same cocktail (ignoring the expensive) is so presumptuous. What I love about a cocktail bar is the variety and as much as I have favourite cocktails, in a proper cocktail bar, I never drink the same one twice.

Yes, I’d be pissed off at this being done on my behalf too, although £15 for a cocktail would be at the pricey end for me, but not unheard of.

Me and my friends went to the bar at the top of the shard. We were worried we might not manage the minimum spend of something like £30 per head. Many of the drinks were more than that, so it was not a problem

What time is op going? Is it going to be dark? What's the weather going to be like? Are they actually going to be able to see a view anyway?

Was that the bar in the viewing bit or one of the 'proper' bars, binkybix? I had a glass of champagne in the viewing bit but there are no seats to discourage people from hanging around and I prefer sitting down when drinking. I'd like to try one of the restaurants in The Shard.

Unfortunately I'm not a northern drinker and a lightweight so 4 drinks is more than enough for me (hence my small budget )
Tbh I would rather spend my spending money on new clothes than alcohol.
I have been known to order a mocktail and pretend it's a cocktail in the past.
I do love Manchester tho and haven't been in ages.

And yes it's a guaranteed window seat.
I'm a bit worried about no atmosphere now.
Do they play music ?

2 hours guaranteed seating after I’ve seen the hundreds of people on trains and cars going into Manchester City centre today - worth every penny!

It is supposed to be a champagne shot. Has it now been downgraded to god awful prosecco?

I'm in Birmingham and it's rare to get a cocktail for less than a tenner here so that's pretty good!
