Help - DC not feeling well and long journey

We have spent the last few days in a city a 4 hour journey from our home town. Today we are travelling home.

Both DC (14 & 9) feel sick and are still in bed. We've got 4 hours until our train. Is there any medication I could give them or anything else I can do to help them feel better before our journey?

@IceCreamAndCandyfloss

Given they have gone away in school holidays so prime travel time it’s not out of the realms of reason to presume they can afford it. If funds were that tight then there wouldn’t have been an initial holiday surely?

What a strange thing to say. People save?

I was looking after my DC and packing up our room singlehandedly!

Thank goodness they are feeling better! Not been sick and happily eating a croissant each now. Considering this I think the train will be ok. Also done LFT and negative - thankfully. If I could get a budget hotel anywhere near I would but there is literally nothing. And no one to pick us up. But I think it is unlikely they will deteriorate now.

We have table seats so will not be directly with anyone. I will make sure we wash hands and table religiously. I have got some travel sickness pills and ginger biscuits. Going to see if I can get the charcoal tablets if I can.

Thanks all for the advice

Phew, that's great News

Good luck OP! Hope you all get through it .

I always carry spare leggings pants and t short for smallest daughter , as well as a few plastic bags and wipes pack, in my rucksack as she gets nausea & travel sick ! I've made a note of some of the many useful tips on here !!

@lululu16

If it was covid though would she still travel then ?? Surely not. Not nice to spread any of these things
Well it was acceptable for a SNP member of Parliament who had a house in London and was diagnosed with covid.

All those saying she shouldn't travel seriously what would you do, there is no accommodation available where I am atm.

Op, glad kids are feeling better

Thank you so much for the well wishes! We are on the train and everyone feeling ok! I was seriously panicking earlier!

Yes, I do have some contingency money but not a massive amount. As for some saying we wouldn't have travelled if money was tight. Actually money is tight but I have been saving for months, also booked budget hotel a long while ago for £20 per night!

Glad you are ok & on your way home now Underthecedartree

Meh it's AIBU there are always PPs who will take a more extreme stance having potentially read too much into what an OP said

A few PP were worried about COVID but it's fab you did LFTs before you set off. That must have been reassuring for you. They might just have been over tired from excitement of holiday or nauseous from eating richer or different meals than usual having been on holiday .(too many yummy handmade ice-creams on holiday! )

@MissUhuragotolder - yes, it could well have been the rich food catching up with them!

We are all home in one piece! The support this morning was so appreciated - thanks all!
