@Tevion28

Has anybody been to Tenerife in january pls
The Canaries are pleasantly warm in January, but its borderline pool weather. It's still Northern hemisphere.

St Lucia/ Antigua /Barbados and other islands nearby if you can get a good deal. Great weather and beautiful beaches. Travel early Jan for best deals outside NY period.

I’ve been to Tenerife for Christmas and New Year and it was sunbathing weather, or walk around in shorts and a vest top weather. The pools will be cold unless heated.
Dubai would be warm, well it was when I went early Feb.
Caribbean would be lovely.

Agadir in Morocco. Some hotels have heated pools.

San Diego, or Mexico.

ShuddaBeenMe · 25/08/2021 14:14

You'll need a heated pool in the canaries or Egypt.

The sea will be warmer in Egypt than the canaries where it'll be cold.

Really you need to go further to lay poolside in January. Lots of cloudy days and we've been freezing before.

You have to go long haul if you want beach and pool in jan.

Google climate in Cape Verde, Dubai, Mauritius, Sri lanka etc if you dont want to go too far.

Dont ask on here, anyone could have had an unseasonably warm holiday at any time. Google climate data or 'weather in tenerife in January' if you want an accurate figure.

It's the best time of year to visit many places in the far east but sounds like it's too far for you

Is it going to be a surprise for your DS? It's a lovely idea, but honestly I think you would be better giving him the money, or giving him a budget, and letting him pick where he wants to go and when. I've got two early 20's DS and I know they would much prefer this.

The Canaries are definitely warm enough, I've been to Lanzarote or Tenerife every Christmas/New Year for the last 20 years and the weather has been glorious

ErickBroch · 25/08/2021 14:29

cape verde

@Tevion28

Take covid out of the equation I just want to know about places warm enough in january for beach and pool
Canaries
Figgygal · 25/08/2021 14:45

Gambia used to be possible on that budget not sure what the impact of Covid is on prices

bert3400 · 25/08/2021 14:46

Canaries is the only European destination warm enough in January. As others have suggested I would put the money away and look for an amazing deal late December, you maybe able to get long haul for short haul prices ?
