To think, if my lips are blue, then it's too bloody cold?

Sorry for this rant but hopefully there will be other posters who feel the same. Where I am it is winter and I am freezing Sad. I have four layers of clothes on and am trying to work in these conditions but finding it hard. I've just been to the bathroom and seen that my lips are blue. Just for background, I am in great health and have no circulatory problems.

If I hear the words, "rug up" or "just put another jumper on" one more time I swear to God...

Seven degrees is a low indoor temperature but your lips going blue at seven degrees isn’t normal.

Mummyoflittledragon · 25/08/2021 06:59

If you’re trying to work, you’re either getting paid or studying. Either way, you need to be warm otherwise your work will suffer. Is this your employer or something? Keeping you cold is false economy.

Eileen101 · 25/08/2021 07:05

YANBU. Who is stopping you from having heating on? My ex husband wouldn't let me put the heating on in the winter (I feel the cold) and I became really poorly for a while.
Is it a partner or an employer? Are you working outside?
Cab you have access to hot drinks or a plug?
Can you tell us a bit more about your circumstances op?

Jemand · 25/08/2021 07:20

Can you go out and buy your own electric heater and plug it in?

I must say, if the people you are with don't think 7 degrees is cold, they need to get medically checked out.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 25/08/2021 07:26

Where on earth are you that it's 7 degrees inside!
Go for a jog.

megletthesecond · 25/08/2021 07:29

Yanbu. This is why I love mostly WFH and rarely having to deal with air con anymore. I need warm air to actually feel warm.

MrsSkylerWhite · 25/08/2021 07:30

Do you have Raynauds?

Have you unconsciously been sucking a biro?
PerseverancePays · 25/08/2021 07:51

Time for a change op. Being cold is a horrible way to live.

WeatherwaxLives · 25/08/2021 07:56

Are you working somewhere that it has to be cold?

I used to work in a refrigerated building years ago. It was about that temp. Yes, it was cold, especially in winter but the work was physical and we wore layers.

I'm just wondering if you're newly started and finding the temp a shock, and the others have been there a long time and are used to it?

LivingLaVidaBabyShower · 25/08/2021 08:05

Why is there no heating?

Firstly - Get a hot water bottle and a lap blanket.

In winter i take a short break every 30 mins and do a heart raiser (starjumps, running on spot, run up stairs, burpees etc.) To encourage circulation

i also flex legs and try to work at a standing desk to encourage circulation

Also agree lips going blue would have me making a Dr appointment.

romdowa · 25/08/2021 08:05

I really don't think it's normal for your lips to be blue at 7 degrees. I'd be getting that checked. Also if you are in the UK then there are regulations I'm sure about work place temperatures and there is a min and a max you can work in.

StoppinBy · 25/08/2021 08:09

Is that celcius or farenheit?

If celcius, it's cold but not too bad, if farenheit, that's freezing and needs something done about it.

EverybodyIsInteresting · 25/08/2021 08:10

Are you in the Falklands Islands?

7°C is too cold. That's not ok. Why is there no heating if you get that kind of temperatures?

Aprilx · 25/08/2021 08:11

@KhalliWhalli

I'm with people who never feel the cold.
Nobody “never feels the cold”. Of course some people get chillier a bit sooner than others. But if one human being is going blue, the others in the same situation must be cold too, or the problem is the first one is starved of oxygen rather than cold.
KhalliWhalli · 25/08/2021 09:44

I’ve always felt the cold. Given the choice, I would go without food before I went without heating.

WHERE ARE YOU OP????

timeisnotaline · 25/08/2021 09:51

Why can’t you just say I’m freezing and turn a heater on??

Imissmybum · 25/08/2021 09:55

Fucking hell. Are you at work? At someone's home? If you're not obligated to stay then leave. I can't bear being cold.

Carishina · 25/08/2021 10:05

@StoppinBy

Is that celcius or farenheit?

If celcius, it's cold but not too bad, if farenheit, that's freezing and needs something done about it.

7 degrees farenheit would be minus 13 in celcius. The OP would be blue all over at that temperature!

7 degrees (celcius) is uncomfortably cool in my opinion and you are quite right to demand some heating OP!

tigger1001 · 25/08/2021 10:17

There are too many unanswered variables:-

At work?
Why no heating available?
Indoor temperature?

daisychain01 · 25/08/2021 10:24

@KhalliWhalli

I’ve always felt the cold. Given the choice, I would go without food before I went without heating.
Going without food could create the problem, given that nutrition enables you to burn calories and keep warm.

Your responses aren't helping to paint a picture about why you're cold and can't put the heating on.

You said your with "people" who don't feel the cold, but are those "people" the ones who are stopping you putting the heating on. You do have a choice.... or do you? Are you having to toe the line because the other people are paying the bill? If so, it sounds controlling, but difficult to know your circumstances.

It would be worth seeing your GP as blue lips could be due to circulatory issues.

daisychain01 · 25/08/2021 10:25

There is too much drip feeding to make sense - are you in a situation of threat OP? Are you frightened to talk on here?

daisychain01 · 25/08/2021 10:26

your = you're

SheWoreYellow · 25/08/2021 10:26

Is it 7 indoors? You really need more like 16 to be within the realms of normal. And I’d prefer 19-20.
